Will.i.am tricks fellow The Voice judges as he secures two 'crazy fresh' young singers for his team

He has been keeping his cards very close to his chest, and not turning his chair for just anybody.

And by doing so, The Voice veteran Will.i.am has managed to secure two star acts, merely by tricking the other judges out of pushing their buttons.

On Saturday night's show, Will only turned for two people, 17-year-old Sophie May Williams from Wakefield and Jermain Jackman, 18, from Hackney.

Deciding not to hit his button for even the good acts, Will bided time until Sophie May Williams came to the stage.

All the judges sat discussing and deliberating whether to turn around for her, with fellow judges Kylie Minogue, Sir Tom Jones and Ricky Wilson all toying with their button.

But right at the last second of the song, Will.i.am hit his button, knowing that he had played the game and cleverly secured his act.

The 17-year-old from Wakefield sung Time After Time, and said that her quirky vintage dress sense derived from her grandfather, who loved old films and jazz music.

When asked by Will.i.am if she always dressed in vintage clothes, Sophie said: 'Yes I do. People think I'm just a weirdo, just walking around in whatever I want.'

An impressed Will replied: 'We would have been hanging out if we were the same age.'

Being the only person to turn around, Will.i.am secured the teenager on his team, adding 'wow you're so fresh, I love that dress,' as he hugged her after the performance.

Last up on the show was singer and youth politician Jermain Jackman, East London.

The 18-year-old, who is also the youth co-coordinator for the Labour Party in Hackney, sung an impressive version of the normally female vocalist song,  And I Am Telling You.

All the judges were impressed by his vocal range, and behind the chairs, Will.i.am was urging Ricky to press his button, but for some reason, he hesitated.

Not one to see a vocal talent go to waste it was up to the Black Eyed Peas singer to press his button and secure Jermain a place in the competition.

Will.i.am looked so smug with himself, knowing that he has found a good contestant, and was the only one to turn around.

'I was telling Ricky to turn, but you sounded wonderful, this singer is too good to see him walk,' said Will.

'What's crazy fresh is I think you're supposed to be on my team - on a philanthropic theme, as well as with music it's crazy fresh.'

On his VT, a confident Jermain said: 'I am passionate about two things. Music and politics.

'There are many wrong stereotypes about children. There is a barrier that stops you from progressing and those are the barriers I want to break down.'
