The Wolverine workout! Hugh Jackman hits the floor for 16 push ups and posts the video on Instagram

He's famed for playing the incredibly buff Wolverine, and Hugh Jackman has given his fans an insight into how he keeps in great shape.

The Australian actor, 45, posted a video on his Instagram account in which he is doing a set of 16 push ups.

He then jumps up to his feet, grabs his bicep and says in his Australian accent: 'Come on!'

Jackman has been playing Wolverine in the X-Men films since 2000, in-between filming an array of other hit movies.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is currently in post production and is set to come out this year, while an untitled Wolverine Sequel has just been announced also.

But Jackman is not just a Hollywood blockbuster star, he's also giving Broadway a shot in 2015.

It was announced last week that despite dropping out of the musical, Houdini, Jackman will now star in Jez Butterworth's The River, according to The New York Post.

Jackman confirmed on his Instagram account: 'What you read in the NY Post is true. Not sure exactly when, but I'm really excited.

'A great team for The River... Can't wait to tread the boards again!!!'

The play is a follow-up to Tony-nominated production Jerusalem, and The River was critically acclaimed in 2012 at London's Royal Court Theatre.

The story follows a man and a woman in a remote cabin on the cliffs on a moonless night.

It won't be his first time on a Broadway stage though - he previously starred in A Steady Rain and Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway.

The Aussie hunk also made a huge impression on directors when he starred in the musical Les Miserables.
