One-track mind: Cara Delevingne says men are too obsessed with sex

From her antics, you may have guessed it already. But in case there was any doubt, Cara Delevingne has confirmed she prefers the company of women to men – and explained why.

Men, she insists, have a one-track mind.

‘Guys just want to have sex with you,’ said the stunning model, who has had a highly publicised relationship with Hollywood star Michelle Rodriguez, 35.

Miss Delevingne, 21, added: ‘The funny thing is, I always used to have more guy friends.

'At school, I was a tomboy and it would be me and all my guy friends. But now . . . it’s kind of changed quite a bit.

‘I still have my old friends from school, but I don’t meet men now who just want to be my friend. They’re just shallow like that.

‘Unless it’s one of my girlfriend’s boyfriends, most guys are not like, “Oh, we should just be mates”. I think it’s harder to become friends with guys because guys just want to have sex with you.’

Miss Delevingne added: ‘I’m young, I’m having fun, I don’t want to pretend I’m something I’m not. So I don’t really care on that matter.

‘People can say what they want, but I’m having a good time. I know what people are doing who are my age; I just think it would be a lie to pretend that I’m not having a good time.’

Speaking of her hectic schedule, Miss Delevingne told The Telegraph: ‘When people described things to me as a whirlwind, I never really knew what it meant, but then you get inside the tornado and you know exactly what it is. It’s madness.

‘You get so caught up in so many things that it can be difficult to find the time to say, “Am I actually okay with this? Am I happy?”’

Despite her success as a model, Miss Delevingne said her dream was to be an actress. She made her debut in 2012’s Anna Karenina and stars in Sky drama Timeless this month.

Miss Delevingne, 21, has always kept quiet on her sexuality before now.

But it is a new level of openness, mainly through her social media accounts, that has gained Miss Delevingne such staggering popularity – she can boast 1.7million followers on Twitter and 5.7million on Instagram.

It is, however, a marked difference to how models have acted in the past. She said: ‘Kate [Moss] is incredibly open, but she chooses who she is open to. I’m just open, generally. But I feel that’s when you really connect with someone’.

She is known for her partying lifestyle, often pictured out with celebrity friends including Rihanna, 26, Miley Cyrus, 21, and Rita Ora, 23.

The late nights and heavy workload has allegedly led to her falling asleep in interviews and on photo shoots, an accusation saw her, earlier this week, brand the fashion industry as full of liars.

Born to property developer Charles Delevingne and socialite Pandora, she had her first foray into modelling aged only ten, when she worked on a photo shoot for Italian Vogue with famous photographer Bruce Weber.

However, it wasn’t until seven years later that she was spotted by the boss of modelling agency Storm and plucked from her private boarding school to begin her journey into stardom.

Modelling was never her plan. She used to ‘always be so angry about modelling’ believing it would get in the way of her real dream of making it as an actress.

It is this second career that is now beginning to take off, she made her debut in 2012’s Anna Karenina and starred in this month’s Timeless with veteran actress Sylvia Syms, 80.
