It seems Will.i.am has that Boom Boom Pow when it comes to moving in political circles, with the pop superstar gaining a fan in Tony Abbott.

It was an unlikely meeting of minds, with The Voice Australia coach and the Prime Minister of Australia bumping into each other in the most Aussie of locations: at an AFL game.

Mr Abbott was at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday night to watch the Sydney Swans play against the Greater Western Sydney Giants.

In the Nine Network's private box with several associates, it's said the Prime Minister Gotta Feeling and spotted the Black Eyed Peas front man nearby.

After approaching him, the pair appeared to get on well and chatting briefly before posing for a snap which appeared on the Swans Twitter account.

It's no secret who Will.i.am was cheering for at the match, with his good friend and professional AFL player Adam Goodes on the Sydney Swans side.

The Grammy Award-winner was even sporting a Swans scarf, which he wore draped around his neck as the pair gave the camera a thumbs-up.
