'It was stressful time for my family': Michelle Heaton catches the eye in bright yellow dress ahead of TV appearance... as she later discusses hysterectomy ordeal
It was only three years ago, Michelle Heaton was faced with the fact that she had a high risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer after being diagnosed with the deadly BRCA2 gene.
And a new interview with MailOnline, the 35-year-old star has confessed that it was through the support of her loved ones that she was able to make the difficult decision to have surgery.
She explained: ‘My first operation which was the double mastectomy happened about three years ago, then last year I had the hysterectomy.

‘At the time there was a lot of recovery involved so it was obviously a very stressful time for my husband and my mum.
Later adding: 'They were all there for me and we supported each other together throughout the process.’
Her heart-breaking decision to have a full hysterectomy - to reduce the risk of developing ovarian cancer - came less than two years after having a double mastectomy.
Both of her breasts were removed after she was diagnosed with a mutated BRCA2 gene in 2012 - putting her in the high risk category for developing breast and ovarian cancer.

The former pop star also revealed that she will have to relive the ordeal again when the time comes where she has to tell her daughter, Faith, that she was a 50 per cent chance of inheriting the mutated same gene.
‘It is something that I will have to revisit when she is older,’ she admitted. ‘When she is more aware of it and aware of her body as a young woman that is when I’ll explain it to her.’

‘Chessington’s is one of our favourite places to go to spend time together as a family,’ the star said.
‘Being part of setting the world record at the Year of the Penguins launch is exciting and I'm pleased to see so many families getting involved and having a good time.
‘It was a great day to spend Mother’s Day with my loved ones.’
