'Tony Goldwyn who plays my husband on the TV [and I] got to sort of go through a line and meet them together.'
First meeting: The President and First Lady met their Scandal counterparts at the White House Correspondents dinner last year, with Bellamy and her onscreen husband Tony Goldwyn attending
And it was immediately clear that Michelle was an avid Scandal fan.
'The first thing she said to me was. as we were walking onto the dance. she says, "why did you kill your son?"
'I got really nervous and I was like "oh", and I couldn’t really get any words out. So I was glad I got to speak today.'

Catching up: Bellamy confided that the first time she met Michelle she was lost for words
The fictional version: Tony Goldwyn and Bellamy play the President and his wife on Scandal
President Obama himself is evidently also a huge Scandal fan, said Bellamy.
'And our sweet President said to Tony, "Mr President? Mr President." Like that’s how. And then the moment was over.
'It’s crazy that any of them know who any of us are. That’s amazing,” Bellamy added about how President Obama and his wife watch Scandal.'
Earlier in the show, which airs on Monday in The U.S., Michelle and Ellen had discussed her 22-year marriage.
Making her fourth appearance: First Lady Michelle Obama sashayed into Ellen DeGeneres's studio on Friday to record an episode of the show, which will air on Monday
'You don't sweat the small stuff,' Michelle explained, when Ellen asked if there was anything about her husband that bugged her.
'I give him a pass now when he leaves his socks on the floor or tells that story for the 100th time and wants us to laugh at it as if it's the first time we've heard it,' she dished.
Taped on Friday last week, the 51-year-old also revealed one of the simple things she’s looking forward to after the presidency is over - opening windows.
'You know, the one thing people don’t realise is we can’t do little things like open windows. You know. I mean I look forward to getting in a car and rolling down the window and just letting the air hit my face,' Michelle said.
Celebrating 22 years of marriage: The 51-year-old revealed that she indulges her husband when he 'tells that story for the 100th time and wants us to laugh at it as if it's the first time we've heard it'
The audience howled with laughter when she added: 'I mean I haven’t been in a car with the windows open in about seven years if you can imagine that. So I’m gonna spend that first year just hanging out the window. The wind!'
The doting mother, who looked chic in a black jacket embellished with white embroidery and white trousers, also praised their daughters Sasha, 13, and Malia, 16, for the way they have coped with growing up in the White House.
'They are so typical. And I love it,' she said. 'I’m so proud of them I think they’ve just managed this interesting journey with just a lot of grace and poise. I’m really proud of them.'
As for what the family would do once the Presidency ends in 2016, Ellen asked whether she or her daughters would get into politics. The answer: 'Noooo, absolutely not.
Normal life: 'The one thing people don’t realise is we can’t do little things like open windows. I look forward to getting in a car and rolling down the window and letting the air hit my face,' Michelle said
'I just wanna help folks...and you can do that in so many different ways.'
One of those ways is the First Lady's Gimme Five exercise campaign, a Let’s Move initiative that challenges people to give her five ways they are leading a healthy life.
And she challenged Ellen to learn the new Gimme Five dance - something the host couldn't resist.
She and Michelle strutted their stuff with the So You Think You Can Dance All Stars to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars's Uptown Funk as the audience clapped along.
