Karl Stefanovic said to be locked in talks with Channel Nine executives over the future of Today as he juggles growing TV commitments next year
With his affable smile and cheeky nature, Karl Stefanovic has been associated as a face of the Today show for eleven years.
But now, as the 41-year-old host prepares to front a re-run of his talk show The Verdict next year, he is said to want to leave the Channel Nine breakfast programme amid talks with TV bosses
According to the Australian, the garrulous presenter is keen to move and has his eye on a bigger and permanent television gig.

As Today closes in on Sunrise in the ratings as the season draws to a close, Stefanovic has been negotiating with network executives. After 11 years on Today – with 3am wake-ups – Stefanovic is understood to be ready to move on.
However, no clear replacement for Nine’s biggest star has emerged. Names being put forward include former Today sports host, Ben Fordham, and even Stefanovic’s younger brother Peter, who has a similar journalistic pedigree.
Karl recently enjoyed fronting a prime-time slot with five-episodes of new panel show The Verdict.
Despite relatively low ratings, network Nine re-ordered an extra three episodes which will air in 2016.
The ambitious anchor told the Sunday Mail that should he leave Today he would: 'Like to do more news based stuff.
'A late show would be tremendous fun, something more entertainment focused, not like The Verdict.'

Model Jesinta Campbell recently to,d The Fix how she looks up to Karl, with whom she has developed a sibling-like relationship.
'In TV I've kind of been taken under the wing of Karl Stefanovic who has been amazing,' she told The Fix.
'He's like a big brother to me. Buddy and I are really close to his family,' she revealed, referring to her football player fiance Buddy Franklin.
