He's a mo bro! Dan MacPherson kicks off Movember with a clean shave as he prepares to grow a new moustache for cancer charity

He's a celebrity ambassador for men's health charity event Movember. 

And Dan MacPherson, 35, wasted no time in getting into the philanthropic spirit on Monday when he shared an Instagram snap of his newly shaved chin; primed for moustache-growing.

'Kicked Off @movember with a clean shave....I feel like I'm about 12 years old,' the hunky actor wrote next to the black-and-white snap.

'Lets get that mo growin!' he added. 

Donations collected by beard-growers during the month of November will be used to fund research into men's health issues such as cancer and mental health. 

Celeb ambassadors joining Dan to promote this month-long charity include Miss Universe Australia 2015 Monika Radulovic, singer Rob Mills and comedian Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann.

And it seems mental health awareness is particularly close to the former Neighbours star, thanks to his childhood being marred by viscous taunting by school yard body image bullies. 

'I was the fat kid and then there was the guy who was good at running and then there was the funny guy," Dan told The Daily Telegraph in an interview.

The truth is your teenage years can really suck,' the now-muscular TV personality continued.

Now, with his childhood bullies far in the past, Dan has been on cloud nine after announcing in January that t he and his long-term girlfriend Zoe Ventoura have become engaged.

'Thanks for all the well wishes! Zoe & I got engaged in early Dec in Qld and had a great time celebrating over Xmas in Oz. We are [very] happy' the 34-year-old wrote on Twitter after the happy news was announced.
