Catherine and her husband James Beverly secretly eloped in Las Vegas two years ago but exchanged vows once more in front of family and friends in Newcastle in October.

'It was the perfect summer day,' she said. 'Fairytale wedding.'

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia following the nuptials, she said putting the wedding off had crossed their minds, but they decided they would keep it as their light at the end of the tunnel.

'I just realised no, this is something really good to look forward to and something positive to keep our minds on that's not treatment, treatment, cancer, cancer,' she said.

They had to postpone their honeymoon however until next year, four months after she finishes treatment, to get the all-clear from the doctors.

'We're going backpacking around Europe for three months,' she said excitedly, mentioning that she had six weeks of chemo left before radiation therapy.
