'That's where you got herpes from me': Ed Sheeran reveals he stole a bottle of James Blunt's beer while watching him perform when he was a teenager as pair hold hands at the ARIAs
British musicians Ed Sheeran and James Blunt seem like close friends - some would say very close friends, after they joked about herpes on stage at the ARIA Awards on Thursday night.
The X Factor Australia mentor presented a new Diamond Award to recognise the success of Ed's album Multiply in Australia and introduced him as the 'Pom with a big shlong' - much to the amusement of the audience.
After the 24-year-old hugged his pal and took his award, he told the audience: 'I went to one of James's gigs when I was 14 at the Cambridge Junction and I stole his bottle of Corona.'

The duo also played up to their bromance on the red carpet, holding hands for photographers.
'There were 20 people in the crowd, and then he went on to sell 20 million records. It's alright, isn't it,' Ed cheekily continued.
But James was quick to deliver an equally cheeky response, chiming in live on stage: 'That's where you got herpes from me'.

Ed reluctantly gave James his hand, with the red-haired singer giggling uncomfortably.
The pair then kept the theme going while Ed did an interview on The Project, telling co-host Carrie Bickmore that he was attending the awards 'to perform and take pictures with my male-lover James Blunt. We've just come out together.'

'It's a recent thing,' he added as James dutifully held the microphone.
The bizarre TV interview took a couple of awkward turns after technical difficulties with the live cross.
The show's hosts were left interviewing the singer via mobile instead of ear piece due to the technical issues, leaving Ed happily chatting on the phone and forgetting to look into the camera.

'It's really bizarre having James blunt hold your microphone like he's a reporter...but sure,' Carrie quipped.
'James is used to holding objects for me and gazing into my eyes,' Ed told them with a smirk.
'Not while on you're on the phone to someone else, though,' James added from the side.
'That's one of the strangest interviews I've seen,' guest panellist Fred Flintoff noted.
On the red carpet Ed stole kisses from singer Conrad Sewell and Rove McManus and even danced with pop princess Kylie Minogue during another TV interview.
