Crikey! Bindi Irwin cuts a glamorous figure in lace embellished dress as she takes to the red carpet at 5th annual AACTA Awards
The trademark khaki was exchanged for something a little more glamorous as Bindi Irwin took to the red carpet at the fifth annual Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards on Wednesday evening.
Mingling with fellow guests outside Sydney venue Star Casino, the 17-year old proved to be an eye-catching sight courtesy of her elegant little black dress from designer Alex Perry.
With a tiered skirt and sheer arms decorated with lace flourishes, the elegant outfit ensured Bindi was not outshone as she greeted fans before making her way inside for the annual ceremony.

Her ensemble was completed with a pair of conventional peep-toe heels, while her brunette locks were tied in a loose bun.
The teenager maintained a rather subtle theme by selecting her make-up from a natural colour palette that served to accentuate her naturally pretty features.
With wake-boarder boyfriend Chandler Powell in his native United States, Bindi was accompanied on the night by close friend Luke Reavley.

The Australian star was in high spirits during her first red carpet appearance since winning the US version of Dancing With The Stars in November.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Bindi admitted her relationship with sportsman Chandler - a constant during her weekly appearances on the hit show - is going from strength to strength.
'It's really really good. It's long distance and challenging every now and then but it's wonderful to have someone so brilliant in your life,' she said.
'Chandler's been so supportive throughout it all . He's hopefully coming to visit in the next little while, around Christmastime. I'm excited.'

'That's a long way off but I'm just enjoying every moment I have with him and just enjoying being young, she added.
While her Dancing With The Stars triumph has exposed her to a wider audience, Bindi admitted she is still reluctant to relocate to the United States permanently - despite being offered a string of TV projects.
'I think the States are wonderful because they're like a second home and my mum's originally from Oregon so that's great but home for me is Australia Zoo,' she said. 'When you grow up surrounded by animals your while life you can't leave that.
'There a few projects on the horizon so we'll see what happens. I really want to choose projects that affect positive change in the world.'
