David Bowie's widow Iman is supported by a male companion as they enjoy a stroll around Manhattan together

She's been mourning the loss of her husband, iconic singer David Bowie.

And and his supermodel wife Iman has been doing her best to get on with her day to day life. 

The Somalian model was seen enjoying a relaxed stroll with a male friend in New York on Wednesday after a meeting at The Bowery Hotel.

Iman, 60, flashed a small smile as the pair strolled through the streets of Manhattan.

The model dressed in a chic camel-coloured trench coat, layered over flared jeans, with her outfit completed by a pair of shades.

She slipped her arm through her friend's while carrying a large umbrella in case the sunny spring weather took a turn for the worse.

She has been keeping a low profile since the death of Bowie in January, which followed his secret 18-month battle with cancer.

Just two months after her husband's passing, the supermodel was also struck by the death of her mother, who she paid tribute to in a poignant Instagram post.

Sharing a picture from her 1992 wedding to David, the star was seen hugging her parents as she wrote: 'Saddened by death of my mom Maryan Baadi. May Allah grant her the highest jennah.' 

While Iman has only been spotted a handful of times in public since the loss of her husband, she has been sharing a number of Instagram posts in recent months, posting inspiring messages on dealing with grief with her fans.

Meanwhile David's son Duncan Jones revealed this week that he was delighted the musician's last album Black Star contained one final surprise for fans.

According to eagle-eyed fans on the picture sharing site Imgur, the gatefold of the Vinyl version of the album turns into a star-spangled nebula - as opposed to the titular black star.

And no one was more touched with the discovery than his son, Duncan, who tweeted a heart-felt message with a link to the news, writing: 'Leaving us surprises even now. So clever. So missed.'  

Duncan wasn't the late star's only child, as he also had daughter Alexandria, 15, with Iman.
