However, the new trailer for The Shallows looks to go a long way towards establishing the 28-year-old as a viable action heroine as she does battle with a great white shark.

The actress plays Nancy, a surfer who is left stranded on a rock after she's injured in an isolated area, as a giant shark circles her.
The trailer begins with the water woman befriending some surfers on a remote beach where she learns that the locals call the spot 'paradise'.
But the idyllic setting soon turns red as Nancy is ripped off her board by something unseen in the water.

The clip cuts to the other surfer paddling frantically to her as he attempts to climb onto the same rock as her. But it is too late and he too is eaten alive.

The thriller is due in theaters on June 29 in the US and August 12 in the UK.
Blake, who is married to Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, gave birth to her daughter James in December, 2014. She is believed to be expecting her second child.
