With Ed Sheeran's current Australian and New Zealand tour eclipsing the one million mark, it's fair to assume that it's the hottest ticket in town.

And Ed's Adelaide fans experienced the literal meaning of that phrase on Wednesday, when they braved sweltering heat to see their idol on stage.

It was a blistering 33 degrees in the City of churches, but the soaring temperatures did little to dampen the spirit's of Ed's faithful fans.

The umbrellas were in full force as the throng of hardcore Ed enthusiasts clambered for whatever shade they could find - hunkering behind walls or taking shelter under makeshift awnings.

An impromptu jam session even broke out amid the heat, with one of the faithful belting out what is safe to assume to be an Ed Sheeran number on an acoustic guitar, while a younger fan joined in on his instrument.

It appeared that the rendition was music to the ears of some, who could be seen twirling with abandon as they waited for the doors to open.

However it all appeared to much for one fan, who took the chance to catch some pre-show 'Z's' lying on a picnic blanket underneath a shade-giving umbrella. 

After a throng of hardcore Ed fans camped out overnight to see his  Adelaide show, the Galway Girl hitmaker repaid their fandom by sending a stack of pizzas.

Ed had his team deliver boxes of the take-away food to screaming fans, who couldn't believe their luck.

The singer's magnanimous gesture comes after it was reported that scalpers have targeted Ed's shows, with thousands of fans set to be disappointed after being conned into buying fake or doctored concert tickets.

More than one million tickets have been sold for Ed's performances but industry briefings suggest that nearly 10 per cent of tickets for big name shows are fraudulent, according to the Daily Telegraph

'With record numbers of fans attending the upcoming Ed Sheeran concerts, it is important people are aware of the risks of purchasing tickets via unauthorised re-sellers on the internet,' a spokesperson for Sydney's ANZ Stadium told the publication.
