Ariana Grande almost lost $169K diamond choker as it flew off during Billboard Awards performance
A $169,000 choker diamond Ariana Grande wore during her outing at the Billboard Music Awards Sunday flew off the singer's neck while she was onstage performing her single No Tears Left to Cry.
The 24-year-old singer's team immediately scoured the area at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and recovered the expensive piece of Djula jewelry, which had more than 45 carats.
A rep for the company told Page Six the choker 'had a faulty mechanism' that led to the temporary disappearance.

A Djula rep told the publication that 'this is the first time a piece has broken while a celebrity was wearing it.
'Luckily, the piece didn’t slide off the stage! It was found on the side of the stage in a far corner, to everyone’s relief.'
Earlier this year, a $2 million engagement ring Paris Hilton was wearing fell off her finger while she was dancing at a Miami club, and was eventually found.
News of the jewelry mishap came after a report Tuesday from People that the Florida native is currently seeing Saturday Night Live personality Pete Davidson, and that he was at the award show Sunday.

'They seemed very lovey-dovey,' a source told the publication. 'He was hanging out with her and her friends with his arm around her.
'After Ariana’s performance, they were backstage and he had his arm around her. She seemed quite smitten.'
The Dangerous Woman artist was previously in an almost-two-year relationship with musical artist Mac Miller, which a source told the publication 'was basically over last year.'
The Side to Side songstress 'and Mac officially broke up right after Coachella weekend, but they ultimately struggled for a long time with their relationship,' the insider said.
