A woman has revealed her fury at learning her boyfriend spent just a lousy $2 on her for Christmas after she forked over a whopping $400 for his lavish gift.

The unnamed woman detailed the situation in a Reddit thread titled, Am I Overreacting

She admitted that she had splashed out hundreds of dollars on her lover for the holidays.

On Christmas day, while unwrapping the gift her partner had given her, her boyfriend continually told her that he spent $75 on her present.

She confessed that she 'didn't care' that she spent more money on him than he did on her.

However, when she saw that her lover had gifted her a coconut perfume, she was furious.

The woman revealed that she 'hates' coconut and that he '100 percent knows' that she can't stand the scent.

Her fury intensified when she looked up the item and discovered that it cost her boyfriend just $2.50.

The post was titled: 'Am I overreacting on how I feel about my Christmas gift?'

She explained: 'I ended up spending over $400 on him total for his gifts.  When Christmas came, I opened my gift and he went on to talk about it, [the] first thing he mentioned was that it was $75, which I didn’t care about but I could clearly tell he was lying about it.

'After that I looked online and found out that it was under $5, which is fine but him lying about it was off-putting, and I also feel the need to mention he makes way more money than me so I know he is not broke.

'He also talked about how it was special in some way, but I was so confused about how because the one big thing is that it's a coconut-scented perfume.

'I absolutely HATE coconut and he 100 percent knows that. He also knows exactly what my interests are and what I like so it can’t be that he didn’t know what to buy me.

'It's not about the money or the fact of it being one thing, I am grateful for it because he could've not gotten me anything. I just feel as if there was no thought put into it, am I overreacting or should I bring it up to him?'

People on the web flooded the comments section and slammed her boyfriend.

One person said: 'I would say it's the thought that counts...but I don't think there was much thought in this.'

Someone else wrote: 'He doesn't care. If you hate coconut and he bought that for you, that's showing that he doesn't care. It's got nothing to do with money either. Most of the time we don't care what something costs, so long as it's what we like. I feel like this is enough of a reason to break up.'

Another user added: 'Just call him out for lying. And every time he tries to spin it on you for being ungrateful remind him he lied and then decide if you wanna deal with this forever. Good luck.'

'You are definitely not overreacting,' commented a fourth person.
