Terrifying new developments in mysterious figure seen by side of dark and lonely road after multiple smashes

A mysterious figure spotted by the side of a dark Nebraska road after multiple crashes is feared to have taken a terrifying new step.

The individual, who has been spotted immediately after four separate incidents, is believed to have made hoax calls posing as one the victims to a news station that reported on them.

WOWT reported that three voicemails, all from the same man, were left with the station pretending to be one of the victims they spoke with asking that the story be taken down.

It comes as investigators visited the home of an unidentified person of interest, although they have yet to make any arrests.

Garrison Beach and his wife Skylar had spoke with the outlet last week about how they had been travelling on Highway 36 outside of Bennington when they crashed

The couple had to swerve to avoid a piece of metal seemingly left in the middle of the asphalt, and ended up down a ravine.

As they made their way back up the incline they were met with an odd figure who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, unnerving the pair.

One of the voicemails shared by the outlet say: 'Hello, this is Garrison Beach and I would like the news article about the accident to be removed.'

The real Garrison Beach said: 'I just think it’s crazy that we’re at the point of someone calling in and impersonating me on the phone to try and get the story taken down.

'That clearly wasn’t me making the phone call. Someone has something to do with the accident or was spooked about the awareness this has risen, and wants it gone.'

The couple had a small interaction with the man who has been seen on at least four occasions after crashes on the road.

The man asked them to wait for emergency services inside his own vehicle, which they had spotted at an intersection with the lights on - seemingly watching the road.

The unnerved couple declined, with Skylar telling the outlet: 'It was just very odd. He was right there when we got out of the car.

'Since our car was in the ravine, no one would know we were down there. It was odd how fast he showed up, as if he watched the whole thing happen

'As soon as we said, "No, we’re going to wait for the police", he kind of just walked back to his car.

'It was pretty scary. I remember screaming and I wasn’t sure when we’d start rolling, but we were fortunate to walk away from the accident.'

Garrison believes it was the same individual they spoke with that night who left the voicemail, saying the voicemail sounded similar.

On Wednesday morning, local officers investigating the mysterious happenings served a search warrant.

Numerous deputies searched a Bennington home of a person of interest in the case in the hopes of finding evidence that points to the weird happenings.

The person of interest sat in a police car while deputies searched the property and was allowed back inside after two hours. No arrests have yet been made.

The man had left the scene before the couple could get his name, but it appears this type of behavior has happened before on the exact same stretch of road.

Kyle Sorenson had an almost identical story from the Beach couple, with his vehicle striking a kids bike that had been left in the middle of the road.

Sorenson recalled to the outlet that immediately after he collided with it, the man appeared behind him in his vehicle.

He told the outlet: 'I hit a kid’s bike that had been left right in the center of the road. As I looked in my rearview mirror, I saw someone sitting on Pawnee Road.

'They pulled up behind me and it was this individual saying he was checking to make sure we were okay.'

After seeing little damage on his vehicle, Sorenson left the scene unscathed but his wife later spotted the man following a car that was leaking oil on the highway.

Sorenson added: 'In two weeks, this has been three incidents where he was immediately the first person on the scene.'

Speaking of the voice messages, Sorenson told the outlet: 'Yeah that [voicemail] definitely sounds like the same person who pulled up behind me.'

Capt. Eric Sellers with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said that they do not believe abduction is the motive in the case.

He said: 'They’re the first person there to help out and call 911, so in their mind, they’re a hero, but they are causing these crashes.'

Sellers said that the person is not breaking the law by impersonating Beach, but if he made the same call to the police it would be a crime.
