EXCLUSIVEEDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Now the REAL Meghan should star in The Crown, says star who played young Kate Middleton in hit Netflix show
She was convincing as Kate Middleton in the last season of The Crown, and now Meg Bellamy has a proposal for any future series Netflix might choose to make.
The actress, 22,says the Duchess of Sussex should play her younger self.
‘Only Meghan could do Meghan Markle justice,’ she tells me at the first night of Cirque du Soleil at the Royal Albert Hall.
In the sixth series of The Crown, the future Prince and Princess of Wales were shown falling in love while studying together at St Andrew’s University.
Its final episode, aired in 2023, was set in 2005, when Prince Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles.
‘Meghan is a great actress,’ Meg says of the former Suits star, who quit acting before marrying Prince Harry in 2018.
Of Catherine, who confirmed this week that she was in remission from cancer, Meg adds: ‘Kate is awesome.’

Dame Arlene Phillips appears to be losing her self-discipline. The former Strictly Come Dancing judge 81, admits she’s broken her New Year’s resolution.
‘I was determined not to eat cheese, then I got a hamper with the most glorious cheese as a Christmas present,’ she tells me. ‘It lasted barely three hours – I’m very disappointed in myself.’
Blunt’s one-man rock band hit wrong note
You're Beautiful singer James Blunt would have been in a rock band, rather than a solo artist, had he been more popular at Harrow School.
‘When I set out and I picked up a guitar aged 14, it was an electric guitar,’ he says.
‘I saw myself being a rock guitarist with long hair and a band playing rock songs.’ His rocker dreams were soon cut short, however.
Blunt explains: ‘The problem is, to be in a band you need friends. Without those, I just found myself upstairs on my own with an acoustic guitar writing the miserable songs that people now know.
‘But, yeah, it wasn’t meant to be this way.’

Currently touring Down Under with his cantankerous father Michael, 84, comedian and actor Jack Whitehall cheekily pitches his idea for the quarrelling pair’s next Netflix series.
‘I think we could do one more. We could do a one-off Christmas special where I take daddy to one of those clinics in Switzerland,’ Jack, 36, rudely quips.
‘I could do a spin-off series on my own where I tour around Australia – we could call it The Ashes Tour.’ Charming!
Tania celebrates gong with Trinny
Stylist Trinny Woodall has gone from co-presenting What Not To Wear to beauty entrepreneur, but she has not yet managed to secure an honour.
She was, however, delighted to toast her friend Tania Bryer, who on Wednesday collected an OBE from Princess Anne at Windsor Castle.
TV presenter Bryer, 62, was awarded the gong for services to charity and threw a party to celebrate at Nexus Club in South Kensington, where she was joined by pals including fedora-wearing Trinny, 60, Liz Hurley and Eamonn Holmes.
One person conspicuous by his absence was Prince Andrew. He’s been friends with former weather girl Bryer, who is married to hedge fund manager Rod Barker, for more than 30 years.
Their friendship has at times been painful. When she interviewed him for her CNBC Meets show, a heavy piece of camera equipment fell on her toe, breaking the bone.

Twenty-four years after first starring alongside Colin Firth (Mark Darcy) in the Bridget Jones films, Renee Zellweger only recently made an awkward discovery.
Having traditionally sent her co-star the same treat at the end of filming, she says: ‘Colin doesn’t get chocolates any more. He told me accidentally he doesn’t really like them – I think he forgot that I’m the person who sends them to him.’
Firth’s old love rival in the films, Hugh Grant, more gratefully confirms that Renee always sends him whisky.
Geldof ‘smuggles drugs’ from Oz
Bob Geldof has admitted to drug smuggling. ‘When I wake up, I have to have strong black tea, and then I have to take two Aspro Clear tablets,’ the campaigning rocker says.

‘It’s a direct injection; a mainline into your system because it’s effervescent, soluble aspirin, so it just goes in. If you’re a bit sore and stiff from the night before, it loosens you up and off you go.
‘Problem is, they banned the f*****g thing in England for some stupid reason. So when we come to Australia, we stock up and sneak them back into the UK – or else,
simply, the gig can’t go on.’
Aspro Clear tablets were discontinued in Britain in 2022. How fortunate then that Geldof, whose hits with the Boomtown Rats include I Don’t Like Mondays and Banana Republic, is about to embark on a tour of Australia – but watch out at Customs!
