- Better grab a latte to go, that report is due this morning and there’s a call with the dog across the street after naptime,' reads the toy's description
- 'As many parents and caregivers ... are continuing to work from home, this preschool role-play set enables kids to do the same,' a spokesperson said
Across the US, kids have been watching their parents work from home — and now they can make believe they're working from home, too.
Fisher-Price has just launched the 'My Home Office' play set for $24.99, which allows kids to be just like mom and dad, getting down to business while offices are closed due to the pandemic.
The very on-the-nose set includes a laptop with four 'apps,' a smartphone, a headset, and a takeout coffee cup.
Talk about timely! Fisher-Price has just launched the 'My Home Office' play set for $24.99
Pretend: Kids can be just like mom and dad, getting down to business while offices are closed due to the pandemic
What's included: The very on-the-nose set includes a laptop with four 'apps,' a smartphone, a headset, and a takeout coffee cup
The set is advertised as appropriate for preschoolers age three and up, who 'can "work" from home or anywhere" with the eight-piece play set.
It comes with a laptop made of wood, as well as four fabric 'apps' that kids can attach to the computer screen while they pretend to work on different projects.
Those apps appear to include a calendar, a graph, the weather, and — for a bit of procrastination — a picture of a cat.
There's also a wooden smartphone and a plastic headset for business calls, and a coffee cup that can be filled with juice or water.
'Better grab a latte to go, that report is due this morning and there’s a call with the dog across the street after naptime,' reads the toy's description.
'With the Fisher-Price My Home Office set, your preschooler is the boss of their own work station… at home, the local coffee shop, or the moon.'
Pump some iron! The toy brand has also launched a $14.99 Baby Biceps Gift Set for tots watching mom and dad exercise at home
Work up a sweat! It comes with a headband, a dumbbell with clacker beads, a kettle bell with rattle beads and a teether handle, and a pretend protein shake that makes a jingle sound
'As many parents and caregivers across the country are continuing to work from home, this preschool role-play set enables kids to do the same,' Chuck Scothon, Fisher-Price senior vice president and Mattel global head of infant and preschool, said in a statement, according to Business Insider.
With so many children's toys that mimic grown-up activities — like play kitchens, houses, and cars — it's natural that one would pop up that lets kids mimic what they're seeing now in the pandemic.
The toy brand has also launched a new Baby Biceps Gift Set for tots watching mom and dad exercise at home.
That set, which sells for $14.99, comes with a headband, a dumbbell with clacker beads, a kettle bell with rattle beads and a teether handle, and a pretend protein shake that makes a jingle sound.
'Lift, rattle, teethe, repeat,' the description reads. Those fine motor skills aren’t going to work themselves.'
Such a professional! Denver dad Brian Kieffer shared a photo of his seven-year-old son on Twitter, which he captured when the youngster was in the middle of a class on Zoom
Back in April, Denver dad Brian Kieffer shared a photo of his seven-year-old son on Twitter, which he captured when the youngster was in the middle of a class on Zoom.
The boy was all dressed up in a suit and tie, and mimicked the 'I'm on the phone' hand signal when his father stepped into the room.
'My 7 y.o. put on a suit for his class Zoom this morning,' Brian wrote on Twitter. 'My wife told me I needed to go see it so I popped my head in to grab a pic.
'He was concerned I was going to interrupt him and flashed me the “I’m on a call hand signal.” It took everything I have not to bust out laughing.'
Indeed, Brian's son is holding up the hand signal that indicates he's on the phone — likely something he has seen his dad do in the past.
