The fox who sounds like a BIRD! Crafty creature squawks as it chases a dog around garden

  • Fox tries to befriend Mcivor Steiner's dog Kirby as they run in the garden
  • But the pooch trots inside and the red mammal is left all alone
  • So he cries out - but the bizarre noise sounds more like a bird squawking

We've all heard foxes make bizarre noises in our gardens late at night, but one man got quite the surprise when he spotted one, not barking not howling... but squawking like a bird.

The red mammal can be seen on video attempting to befriend Mcivor Steiner's dog Kirby as they chase each other around the Minnesota back yard.

It almost seems the fox wants Kirby to play with him as they gambol but soon the dog runs onto the decking away from sight.

Interestingly the reynard doesn't dare brave it up on the platform so resorts to crying out to his new buddy.

However, the sound that comes out of his mouth when he opens it is highly unusual and sounds much more like a bird than a fox.

It repeats the bizarre cry several times as it peers over the wooden decking, staring intensely at the camera.

The fox then proceeds to trot all the way around to the other side where it repeats the noise.

'We now regularly hear that crazy bird-like scream the fox makes...'

The amazing footage has now been viewed over 3million times.

'That is pretty interesting' one YouTube user commented: I've heard this sound before out in the woods, but til now had no idea what it was.

Another wrote, 'Poor guy wanted to play some more!'
