Courtney Stodden files for divorce from estranged husband Doug Hutchison...seven years after marrying when she was 16 and he was 50

Courtney Stodden and husband Doug Hutchison are divorcing.

The 23-year-old filed documents to part ways with the actor, TMZ reported, about a year after they announced they were separating.

It was not immediately clear if the Tacoma, Washington-born reality star - who's been seen on shows such as The Mother/Daughter Experiment and Celebrity Big Brother - was trying to get spousal support as the marriage drew to a close.

Troubles: Stodden suffered a miscarriage in 2016 and the couple separated later that year, going public with their split in early 2017

It's over: Courtney Stodden, 23, has filed for divorce from Doug Hutchison, 57, ending their controversial marriage in just under seven years

'This day marks a new chapter in my life,' she said in an Instagram post Tuesday afternoon. 'It’s a lot scary and a little surreal. But all change is. Praying having faith and hope in the destiny God has created for me.'

The 57-year-old actor, whose most prominent part came in 1999's The Green Mile alongside Oscar-winners Tom Hanks and Sam Rockwell, initially tied the knot with Stodden in 2011 in Las Vegas.

The duo's divorce comes at the end of a difficult two-year stretch in which Stodden suffered a miscarriage in 2016; and they separated later in the year, going public with their split in early 2017.

In January, Hutchison told DailyMailTV that Stodden, despite social media pleas to try and save the relationship, moved in with businessman Chris Sheng in Hollywood, which left him heartbroken, but not bitter toward Stodden.

On her own: Stodden claims she has a total of $2,700 in cash and in bank accounts and owns property such as household appliances, furniture and furnishings worth $10,000

Introspective: Stodden shared this selfie on Instagram Tuesday, saying she was 'having faith and hope in the destiny God has created for me' amid the major life change

'I love her with all my heart, we are soulmates and I will always love her,' he said. 'I don’t think even Superman could be married to that woman.'

With their age difference, as well as Hutchison's fame and Stodden's flashy image - at 15, she had won a local Miss Universe pageant put on by now-President Donald Trump - the two made an immediate media splash and became tabloid fixtures for a time.

In a 2011 interview on Good Morning America, they opened up about how they met as Stodden was seeking an acting coach, and as chemistry built between the pair, with Courtney's mom Krista Stodden aware of the budding relationship. Hutchison said that his 'world turned upside down' when he found out Stodden was 16, he was conflicted.

'It didn't make me want to walk away, but it definitely was a struggle inside my heart … because I had already started falling for her,' he said, noting that Courtney's mother first raised the idea of a marriage to circumvent legal statues in regards to her age.

'It was Krista who said, "You know, you guys could get married if you want. There are ways to do that. There are certain states.'"

Stodden said that she 'was a virgin' when they wed: 'I knew that if I kept that, I would really be blessed with a beautiful gift. And God did. He blessed me with my soulmate.'
