Kaashi Raaghav Movie Review : It is a film that you would want to re-watch for its brilliance

Story: It’s a story of star-crossed lovers trying to grapple with the realities of a patriarchal society. It explores the journey of a mother trying to find her lost daughter in the bylanes of Varanasi and coming face-to-face with her own past.

Review: Kaashi Raaghav is a film which leaves you asking for more throughout its run-time of two hours and ten minutes. Dhruv Goswami and team have dealt with a very sensitive subject with great finesse. Deeksha Joshi as Kaashi and Jayesh More as Raaghav have done a fabulous job. From the first frame itself, the film engrosses you and pulls you into the world of Kaashi and Raaghav. The supporting actors, Shruhad Goswami and Preeti Das, add to the intriguing universe of a prostitute who is a mother, and a truck driver.

This is probably Deeksha’s best performance till date, playing a prostitute and a mother to an eight-year-old. Her nuanced acting adds a lot to the film, and the edgy cinematography by Pratik Parmar captures it perfectly. It is commendable how Deeksha has picked up Bengali and she delivers the dialogues with great ease.

Having mostly played a cop in Gujarati films, Jayesh More surprises the audiences with his convincing performance as Raaghav, a truck driver, showcasing his wide acting range. Jatan Pandya’s lyrics hit the right notes. The music, by debutant duo Vatsal Goswami and Kavan Bhatt, is on point and will give you goosebumps. Nindru Re, sung by Rekha Bhardwaj in Bengali and Gujarati, is a new lullaby that you will add to the playlist. Jubin Nautiyal’s voice echoes on the screen in the song Maa Ganga, giving an on-point background score to the film.

The film brings forth the essence of every city that it is shot in across the country, be it Varanasi, Kolkata or Mumbai. The multi-lingual dialogues ensure that it doesn’t feel like just a Gujarati film. Kaashi Raaghav is a film you would want to re-watch for its brilliance. Kudos to Avani Soni for casting the perfect people.
