PLAYER RATINGS: Man United 1-3 Brighton

Manchester United suffered a fourth defeat in five games at Old Trafford as Brighton claimed an impressive 3-1 victory.

Yankuba Minteh gave the visitors the lead in the fifth minute before Bruno Fernandes levelled from the spot.

16:19

MATCH STORY: Everton 3-2 Spurs

Of all the various ways Tottenham have found to lose during their terrible midwinter demise this one might end up going down as the worst.

Worse than the tame surrender at Arsenal on Wednesday. Worse even than humbling defeats on home soil to Chelsea, Newcastle or struggling Ipswich. Worse than the six-goal hammering at home to Liverpool.

16:18

MATCH STORY: Nottingham Forest 3-2 Southampton

When Anthony Taylor blew his whistle to signal full-time, Nuno Espirito Santo was not the only one in Forest colours who looked like he needed a lie down.

From 3-0 up before half-time, Forest had been hanging on through 12 minutes’ stoppage time as the effort they had shown in holding Liverpool to a draw five days ago finally started to take its toll.

16:13

MATCH STORY: Man United 1-3 Brighton

The temptation on occasions like this is to draw comparisons with the past, but there really aren’t any. The Manchester United that Denis Law graced feels as far away from the modern-day incarnation as you could possibly get.

United fans paid homage to The King, who passed away on Friday at the age of 84, and then looked on as United played like paupers. The only parallel to be drawn with Law’s era and this shambles of a team is that United look closer to being relegated from the top-flight than at any time since 1974.

16:08

United remain 13th after dismal showing

There was so much promise around United coming into today after recent results, but again they were all too easily broken down by Brighton who took their chances and probably could have had more.

If ever there was a showing that Amorim needs to be backed in the transfer market then this was it.

Yes much will be made of Onana's errors - and rightly so - but this was a poor team performance and the better team deserved to win.

FULL TIME: Everton 3-2 Spurs

16:00

FULL TIME: Man United 1-3 Brighton

15:59, 90'

Goal:Everton 3-2 Spurs (Richarlison)

Spurs show their fight as Richarlison scores his first goal of the season against his former club. The Brazilian gambled on a cross and finished with a stretching leg to reduce the deficit.

15:52, 90'

Goal:Nottingham Forest 3-2 Southampton (Onuachu)

Onuachu scores his first Premier League goal with a bullet header amongst a crowded box that bursts into the back of the net.

A potentially nervy finish for the hosts now as we enter stoppage time.

15:44, 77'

Goal:Everton 3-1 Spurs (Kulusevski)

It's probably too little too late as Kulusevski finds a lovely dink finish to give the visitors some hope.

It was a really tidy finish with Pickford out of his goal and a bunch of Everton defenders on the line, Kulusevski simply lobs the lot of them.

15:44, 81'

Man United 1-3 Brighton

United haven't done anything to threaten Brighton since conceding a third goal and everything they are doing looks lethargic.

Brighton on the other hand are enjoying themselves and look set to record a league double here at Old Trafford today barring a miracle.

15:37, 76'

Goal:Man United 1-3 Brighton (Rutter)

Andre Onana, what on earth are you doing?! A poor cross into the United box can be dealt with in so many ways but Onana decides to dive and slap it into Rutter's feet who has the easiest finish you will see into an open net.

That was entirely the United goalkeeper's fault and Amorim can't quite believe it. Shocking mistake in a catalogue of errors today.

15:36, 74'

CHANCE! Man united 1-2 Brighton

Just as I say that United finally spring an attack with De Ligt finding Amad in space on the right and the winger runs at Brighton's defence.

He squirms a pass into Zirkzee who makes good connection just inside the box only for his effort to be blocked.

Better from the hosts.

15:34, 73'

Man United 1-2 Brighton

Brighton are doing brilliantly in running the clock down as they win a corner and then a free-kick in the middle of the pitch for a foul by Collyer on Baleba.

United look short of ideas but they still have time to get back into things... or another Brighton goal.

15:30, 67'

Man United 1-2 Brighton

Amorim has seen enough as he makes a double change that United fans hope will get them back into this match again.

Off - Ugarte, Mainoo

On - Collyer, Garnacho

15:24, 60'

Goal:Nottingham Forest 3-1 Southampton (Bednarek)

There's a small glimmer of hope for the bottom of the table team as Bednarek scores following a huge deflection to pull a goal back at the City Ground.

15:21, 60'

Goal:Man United 1-2 Brighton (Mitoma)

That one will stand as Mitoma stretches at the back-post and gets a crucial touch that taps the ball past Onana who you question whether should have done better.

Brighton lead again, United caught sleeping. Ugarte is also booked for a challenge in the build-up.

15:16, 55'

GOAL DISALLOWED: Man United 1-1 Brighton

It was the right call for referee Peter Bankes to rule out the Joao Pedro goal for Van Hecke’s foul on Dalot, catching him the United defender after he kicked the ball, but United cannot afford another slow start to this half and hopefully that will wake them up.

A big 35 minutes ahead for Amorim’s side as they look to get the crucial second goal.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND - JANUARY 19: Joao Pedro of Brighton and Hove Albion scores a goal that is later disallowed by VAR for a foul during the Premier League match between Manchester United FC and Brighton & Hove Albion FC at Old Trafford on January 19, 2025 in Manchester, England. 15:14, 53'

Goal:Man United 1-2 Brighton (Pedro)

Pedro puts the Seagulls back infront and that was a really bizarre goal. A free-kick from Ayari is scuffed and rolls into the box, it bounces around the box before falling to Pedro who smashes his effort into the bottom corner.

BUT, we have a VAR review for a foul on Dalot...

15:13, 46'

Everton 3-0 Spurs

We are back underway at Goodison Park as well now and Spurs boss Postecoglou was so unhappy with his side's first-half showing that he sent them out two minutes before Everton emerged.

Could this be his final half as Tottenham manager?

15:09, 47'

Man United 1-1 Brighton

United are again caught out by a simple long-ball that I'm surprised Brighton haven't utilised more often and the result is a fierce shot from Baleba that Maguire does well to block.

The hosts can't afford another slow start here.

15:07

Back underway at United and Forest

The ball is rolling again at both Old Trafford and the City Ground with United searching to go ahead and Forest firmly in control against Southampton.

14:56

HALF TIME: Everton 3-0 Spurs

14:53

Goal:Everton 3-0 Spurs (OG: Archie Gray)

We've had seven minutes of added on time at Goodison Park and Everton make the most of it as they recycle the ball from a corner and a delightful delivery is met by Tarkowski.

His header hits Calvert-Lewin and is then prodded into the back of the net via Archie Gray for an own goal.

Spurs have unravelled and Postecoglou's time could be up after today you fear.

14:51

HALF TIME: Man United 1-1 Brighton

14:50

HALF TIME: Nottingham Forest 3-0 Southampton

14:50, 45'

CHANCE! Man United 1-1 Brighton

Amad wins a free-kick in a dangeorus position to the right of Brighton's box and puts a great delivery to the back-post.

Maguire is unmarked but bizarrely decides to put his header back across goal instead of testing the goalkeeper.

Head in your hands moment with the goal at Maguire's mercy.

14:44, 41'

Goal:Nottingham Forest 3-0 Southampton (Wood)

It's three first-half goals for Forest as Chris Wood rises highest in the box to meet a floated cross and Saints defenders can't get near him.

Wrap this one up because Forest have virtually sealed three points already with a stunning first-half performance.

14:43, 41'

Man United 1-1 Brighton

Amad's blushes are spared as he is waved offside after rounding the goalkeeper and wasting time to get a shot away. United fans will let him off given his stunning form of late.

14:40, 38'

Man United 1-1 Brighton

Weird sort of game this. Two wild moments at both ends gave us the goals but it's been a bitty game in between.

Both sides struggling to get any sort of rhythm going which is frustrating both managers no end.

14:36, 36'

Man United 1-1 Brighton

United are showing signs of growing in confidence as Zirkzee holds the ball up brilliantly on the halfway line to avoid three challenges and roll a pass into Fernandes.

The Portuguese switches play and suddenly Amad has space to run at Brighton which he does before losing possession and a goal-kick is awarded.

14:32, 30'

Goal:Everton 2-0 Spurs (Ndiaye)

Wow what a goal that is from Ndiaye! The Everton dribbles from the halfway line, displays some beautiful quick feet to round Dragusin and smashes his shot into the roof of the net.

Everton deservedly have a two-goal cushion and Ange Postecoglou looks slightly lost for answers in the dugout.

14:31, 28'

Goal:Nottingham Forest 2-0 Southampton (Hudson-Odoi)

Southampton are masters of their downfall as a defensive mixup is pounced upon by Hudson-Odoi who still has work to do but manages to squeeze his shot past a helpless Ramsdale.

14:27, 26'

OFF THE POST! Everton 1-0 Spurs

Everton are knocking at the door as they go in search of a second goal as Doucoure's effort from close-range is brilliantly tipped onto the post. Tottenham look shaky in defence.

14:24, 23'

Goal:Man United 1-1 (Fernandes)

Fernandes takes a bit of extra time to compose himself but makes no mistake from the spot as he sits the goalkeeper down and simply rolls his effort into the bottom-left corner.

Meanwhile Baleba is booked for his challenge that led to the penalty.

Game on!

PENALTY! Man United 0-1 Brighton

United have a penalty! Verburggen tries a stupid pass into midfield, Zirkzee bursts into the box and Baleba clatters into the United forward when retreating. Clear penalty and Bruno Fernandes has a golden chance to level things up.

14:21, 18'

CHANCE! Man United 0-1 Brighton

It's magical from Amad - who else of course - as the United winger rounds his opposite defender before playing a pass into Fernandes via a nutmeg.

The United captain has his line of sight slightly blocked by Zirkzee but has to do better with his close-range effort that he scuffs and the ball sails wide.

14:18, 17'

Nottingham Forest 1-0 Southampton

Good strike from Anderson but that goal shows why Saints are going down. No pressure on Gibbs-White from the throw, meaning it was an easy flick round the corner to Anderson.

Then Fernandes did nothing like enough to stop Anderson running away from him and into the danger area. Poor.

Goal:Everton 1-0 Spurs (Calvert-Lewin)

Lift-off for Calvert-Lewin as he scores his first goal since September! The Everton forward avoided several challenges in the box before finishing with a delightful rolled effort.

14:14, 11'

Goal:Nottingham Forest 1-0 Southampton (Anderson)

Forest fire themselves in front with a thunderstrike from Elliot Anderson who opens his Premier League goals account in doing so. It was torrid defending from the Saints but Anderson won't care as he gives the hosts an early lead.

14:12, 10'

Man United 0-1 Brighton

United were setting their defensive line so high for the goal that as Maguire played Mitoma onside it was a simple assist to make.

United are struggling to get any type of foothold so far and Brighton have their tails up.

14:07, 5'

Goal:Man United 0-1 Brighton (Minteh)

The warning signs were there and a simple ball over the top finds Mitoma who has a brilliant first touch to put himself into a crossing position where he finds Minteh who finishes simply. Brighton lead.

United pay tribute to 'the King' Denis Law

We are being treated to some really touching scenes at Old Trafford as the players are led out by a bagpipe player in a nod to Denis Law's Scottish heritage.

The Stretford End breaks out in song at the same time chanting about Law while both sets of supporters rise to clap the memory of one of the greatest players to ever star on these shores.

Sir Alex Ferguson is in attendance as he lays a wreath and we will have a moment of silence in a minute.

Anthony Elanga tipped for more goals against Southampton

I fancy Anthony Elanga to maintain his strong form today. He’s looked very good in recent games and produced the goals/assists output to match.

Joshua Zirkzee handed set-piece pointers

United are going through their defensive corner routines pre-match and rightly so given their torrid record of conceding from such situations this season - with Southampton's midweek goal coming from another corner.

Joshua Zirkzee is amongst the three changes that Amorim has made to his starting XI today and you can see the Dutchman being given some extra last minute instructions.

13:40

Postecoglou bemoans Spurs' injury crisis

Just when injuries start to clear it has been a damaging week of new problems for Spurs with Johnson and Bissouma missing with knocks picked up against Arsenal and, the biggest blow, no Solanke, injured in training on the eve of the game.

Still no Vicario, Udogie, Forster, Van de Ven, Romero, Bentancur, Odobert… they were regularly without 10 first team players… Ben Davies is back.

Ange told TV: 'Brennan and Biss picked up knocks against Arsenal. Biss not too bad. Brennan probably a little bit more significant. Dom in training tweaked his knee trying to have a shot and misses today.
'We’re not sure of the extent. Its always blow to lose key players and obviously in the situation we’re in that’s fair to accept, we don’t really have the depth to cover but that’s OK we’ve got 11 fit players and that’s all you need to start a game.'

Littler is a massive United fan but even he knows that he is taking second billing on a day dedicated to the great Denis Law.

Amorim rings changes for Brighton clash

I’m here at an icy cold Old Trafford where from a team news point of view it is intriguing to see Leny Yoro retain his place in the starting line-up after a difficult night against Southampton on Thursday.
It is also intriguing to see Amad Diallo pushed into a more advanced role following his hat-trick a few days ago as a wing-back.
Diogo Dalot, back from suspension, and Noussair Mazraoui will provide the width while Rasmus Hojlund, who struggled badly against the Saints, is dropped up top in favour of Joshua Zirkzee.
Ruben Amorim the Tinkerman.

Forest seeking to move level with Arsenal

Certainly not quite as many people in the Forest media room as there were on Tuesday night. But this game is no less important. Win it, and Forest draw level with Arsenal in second.
It'll be fascinating to see how Forest react if they concede the first goal, and how they play in a game where they'll be expected to make the running.
I'm surprised to see Sulemana on the bench for Saints given the problems he caused for Manchester United.

What today means for Ange Postecoglou

If you asked the Spurs boss that question then the most likely response would be along the lines of 'It's just another game mate' but the reality - or at least on the face of it - is quite different.

Spurs travel to Goodison Park sitting in 15th, only seven points above the Toffees and conceningly just 11 points clear of the relegation zone with Ipswich to play tonight.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy isn't renowned for giving managers time to right the ship and if Spurs don't beat Everton today then you fear Postecoglou's head could be on the block.

Paul Parker gives United v Brighton prediction

The former United full-back has a keen eye on proceedings at Old Trafford today and has previewed what promises to be a fierce matchup against the Seagulls.

Paul Parker, speaking exclusively to MailOnline via Zamsino, named five players in Ruben Amorim's squad today who can make all the difference, stating: 'There are 5 players Amorim can look to. Mazraoui, Diallo, Ugarte, Fernandes and Mainoo.

'I look at that 5 and it gives the club a great chance of getting through this season, but he’s going to have to play them at every opportunity.'

The former star also gave his prediction for the tie, adding: 'I’m not going to say 1-0 and nick it late, because I don’t think United can keep a clean sheet, and Brighton create opportunities – they create more than Liverpool. I’m going to go with 2-1 to United.'

12:42

Old Trafford remembers the late Denis Law

United return to Old Trafford today for the first time since club legend Denis Law passed away at the age of 84 on Friday and supporters are paying touching tributes ahead of this afternoon's match.

The fabled United Trinity statue - featuring Law alongside Sir Bobby Charlton and George Best - in the stadium's main foreground has been protected with wreaths being laid by players, club officials and other representatives.

Now supporters are paying their respects to the great icon with a moment of remembrance set to take place before kick-off.

United in desperate search of victory against Brighton

It says a lot about the running of Manchester United and the efforts of former manager Erik ten Hag that they come into today's contest knowing the very best result won't even move them out the bottom half of the table.

Brighton are the visitors at Old Trafford this afternoon and Fabian Hurzeler's side arrive at England's biggest club stadium seeking to pull off an audacious double having already beaten United earlier in the season.

A win for the hosts today would be another step forward under Ruben Amorim as he tries to build confidence and consistency in a squad that has lacked both in recent years.

Defeat against Brighton and United will remain just 10 points above the relegation zone!

One star set to leave Man United after today

One player that Manchester United fans shouldn't expect to see in today's team to take on Brighton is Brazilian winger Antony as the £85m star edges closer to joining a LaLiga side on loan.

Good afternoon and thanks for joining us

Hello, Happy Sunday, and thanks for joining us this afternoon for live updates from three huge Premier League games.

The Premier League table could look a whole lot different after today - mainly in the bottom half of the standings - with Manchester United having the chance to move up to 11th if they beat Brighton.

Forest can really turn the screw on the top four race against Southampton today knowing three points against the relegation dwellers will move them level on points with Arsenal in second.

Meanwhile, the pressure continues to mount on Ange Postecoglou and a defeat against Everton could spell disaster for his time in North London.

Today's coverage of 2pm kick-offs:

Manchester United v Brighton

Everton v Tottenham

Nottingham Forest v Southampton
