Angry Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou snapped back at a BBC reporter following his side's 3-2 defeat by Everton.

Postecoglou's side are in 15th place in the Premier League after falling to their 12th league defeat of the season.

Pressure is mounting on the Tottenham boss and he was involved in a spikey exchange with a journalist following the game at Goodison Park.

Postecoglou took exception to the fact that the journalist started the interview by saying that it was a 'familiar story' for Tottenham to lose.

The journalist said: 'Ange, familiar story. What are your assessments of that performance please?'.

Postecoglou took issue with the line of questioning as he said: 'Familiar story?

Explaining his choice of words, the interviewer said: 'Well in terms of defeat'.

That prompted a sarcastic response from Postecoglou, who stated: 'Yeah okay. Great way to start an interview.'

Postecoglou then commented on his team's performance and admitted that some of his tactical decisions, such as playing a back three, didn't have the desired effect.

He said: 'Yeah look it was a tough result for us. Obviously in the first half we struggled to get control of the game. I made some changes in the team that probably weren't helpful in the end.

'I had players struggling to come to terms with it, unable to capitalise on it. The second half the players put in the right response.'

Tottenham found themselves trailing 3-0 at the break as they endured a woeful first half.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin put Everton in the lead, with Iliman Ndiaye then making it 2-0 before an own goal from Archie Gray compounded Tottenham's misery.

Tottenham managed to reduce the deficit through Dejan Kulusevski in the 77th minute and they were given hope of staging a comeback when Richarlison scored against his former club in stoppage time.

However, Everton held on to secure all three points and add to Postecoglou's misery.

Tottenham went into the game off the back of a 2-1 defeat away to rivals Arsenal in the north London derby.

With his squad continuing to be ravaged by injury, Postecoglou is in need of reinforcements in the closing stages of the transfer window.

Tottenham are in action in the Europa League on Thursday when they face Hoffenheim away.
