Mufasa and One of Them Days lead the second-lowest MLK weekend box office in 10 Years

Keke Palmer and SZA are the new queens of the box office, but it's not necessarily the win the stars may have hoped for.

Their new comedy, One of Them Days, debuted at the top of the heap over what turned out to be a lackluster four-day Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.

The tale about two best friends and roommates who try to avoid eviction after one of their boyfriends takes off with their rent money received a hot 97-percent rating from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and a warm 92-percent audience score.

However, cold temperatures on the East Coast and disruption from the Los Angeles fires may have contributed to what turned out to be the second-lowest MLK holiday weekend in a decade.

One of Them Days earned an estimated $11.4 million.

Mufasa: The Lion King came in a close second. The computer animated prequel to Disney's The Lion King, squeaked by with $11.5 million in ticket sales.
