Scarlett Johansson enjoyed great success as a child actor, however she failed to land what could have been a career-altering part in 1995 adventure flick, Jumanji.

Famously starring Robin Williams, the film sees a magical board game unleash a world of adventure on siblings Judy Shepherd (played by Kirsten Dunst) and Peter (played by Bradley Pierce).

Now, a resurfaced clip has given film fans a look at Johansson's audition tape, sharing a teasing look at what the young actress might have brought to the part had she landed Dunst's role.

The then 11-year-old actress delivers confident recital of the lines while facing a casting director that is off camera.

Ultimately, Johansson lost out on the role and looking back during an interview on The Howard Stern Show, she revealed that she still went on to watch the movie.

When asked if missing out on the role angered her at the time, she stated: 'No, I wasn't bitter about it enough then. Now I'm bitter about it.'

The star actually missed out on another iconic role as twins Annie and Hallie in 1998's The Parent Trap.

Johansson admitted that she never went to see The Parent Trap, jokingly saying it would've been too hard for her to see it.

Based on the 1981 children’s book of the same name, Jumanji follows the children Judy and Peter Shepherd after they find a board game with the power to bring its game pieces into reality.

Judy and Peter accidentally release a gang of mosquitos and ravenous monkeys into the world, while they also Alan Parrish (Williams), a man who has been trapped in the game since he was a child.

The film was an international success, thanks in equal measure to Williams' performance and the child actors that he shared the screen with.

Dunst was an easy casting choice at the time, as she was coming off two acclaimed performances in Interview With the Vampire and Gillian Armstrong's adaptation of Little Women.

Fortunately, Johansson's career has been a stellar success regardless of the roles she missed out on.

After making gaining recognition for her roles in movies such as Manny & Lo, The Horse Whisperer and Ghost World, she made the successful transition into more adult roles with 2003 flick, Lost in Translation.

Hit movies such as Girl with a Pearl Earring, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, The Prestige followed before her lucrative time within the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Black Widow.

Fans will soon see the actress join another iconic movie franchise with her role in the upcoming Jurassic World Rebirth.

The star signed on to the film in 2023, with Universal Pictures putting it on the fast-track for a July 2025 release date.

The new science fiction action film, which comes on the heels of Jurassic World Dominion (2022), is the seventh film in the Jurassic Park franchise and stars a whole new ensemble cast that's being led by Johansson.

Along with Rupert Friend, the cast also features Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein.

'Five years post-Jurassic World Dominion, an expedition braves isolated equatorial regions to extract DNA from three massive prehistoric creatures for a groundbreaking medical breakthrough,' IMDb is reporting about the premise of the story.

As covert operations expert Zora Bennett, Johansson's character is 'contracted to lead a skilled team on a top-secret mission to secure genetic material from the world's three most massive dinosaurs,' according to Universal Pictures, as reported by Wikipedia.

While promoting her film Fly Me To the Moon, Johansson offered her first comments about the film as she gushed: 'I'm an enormous Jurassic Park fan. It's one of the first films I remember seeing in the theater. I remember seeing it so vividly.

Though Johansson lost out on the role she still went on to watch the movie. She joked: 'I wasn't bitter about it enough then. Now I'm bitter about it'

'It was like life-changing. It was mind-blowing. I cannot express how excited I am.'

She continued: 'The script is so incredible. David Koepp wrote it. He returned after like 30 years to write the script. He's so passionate about it, which is so awesome.

'I'm such an enormous fan of the franchise and huge nerd for it. I'm just like, I can't even, I'm pinching myself.'

She also admitted: 'I've been trying to get into this franchise in any possible way for over 10 years.

'I'm like, "I'll die in the first five minutes! I can get eaten by whatever! I'll do the craft service!" I'll do anything for it.

'The fact that it's happened in this way at this time just is actually unbelievable. I can't believe it.'

Gareth Edwards is serving as the director, and is working from a screenplay from David Koepp, who co-wrote the first two original films Jurassic Park (1993) and The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997).

Steven Spielberg is back as executive producer on the project, which is a joint-venture production between Amblin Entertainment and Universal.
