Inside Jessica Alba's bizarre 1996 kidnapping case that shook Hollywood

Jessica Alba might be a successful Hollywood actress with blockbuster movies such as Fantastic Four and Sin City under her belt, but as a teenager she endured a very distressing ordeal.

At the age of just 15, Alba was kidnapped while filming the television series Flipper in Australia in the spring of 1996 - and the case has never been solved.

According to reports, the up-and-coming star was shooting scenes for Flipper when she mysteriously disappeared without a trace.

Her family and friends and the crew working on the TV show were left frantically searching for her for 14 hours.

A teenage Alba - who recently confirmed she has split from her husband Cash Warren - was eventually found tied up and gagged in the trunk of a car miles away from the Flipper set.

The young actress reportedly received unsettling phone calls prior to being kidnapped, and it's been claimed that some thought the two may be connected.

However, the authorities never found any concrete evidence that linked the phone calls to her kidnapping.

Investigators were also unable to identify any suspects or motives for the crime as there was a lack of forensic evidence or eyewitness accounts.

It has been reported that after months of searching for leads, the investigation stalled and the case was ultimately closed without resolution.

Alba, who is known for remaining tight-lipped when it comes to her private life, has never spoken about her ordeal publicly.

She enjoyed her main role as Maya Graham on Flipper until 1997 and in 1999 she went on to star in a few films, including Never Been Kissed and Idle Hands.

Resurfaced reports of Alba's shocking kidnapping come after it was reported that she is set to divorce her husband of almost 17 years.

TMZ reported earlier this month that Alba recently separated from the 45-year-old film producer.

A few weeks ago, Alba was seen without her wedding ring again as she partied it up with fellow A-listers at a pre-Golden Globes bash alongside Derek Blasberg.

She first met Warren whilst filming Fantastic Four in 2004, and the pair married in Los Angeles in May 2008.

They share three children: daughters Honor Marie, born in June 2008, and Haven Garner born in August 2011, and a son, Hayes, born in December 2017.

On January 16, Alba took to Instagram and confirmed her split from Warren.

The post began: 'I've been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years - both as an individual and in partnership with Cash.

'I'm proud of how we've grown in our marriage over the last 20 years and it's now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals,' she continued.

'We are moving forward with love, kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family.

'Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time,' she added alongside a white heart emoji.
