Book a call*Calls are free. Our Support Line is open 8am-6pm Monday to Friday and 10am-4pm Saturday to Sunday. This service is available for adults aged 18 or above.
Our Bereavement Service is for people who might want to have ongoing support, from the same bereavement volunteer, over the phone.
When you start using the service, you'll be matched with a specially trained volunteer who'll give you regular bereavement support. They'll provide a safe space where you can talk openly about your grief. You can access up to six telephone sessions of 45 minutes. To find out more, call us on 0800 090 2309.
No, our Bereavement Service is not a counselling service. Our volunteers are here to offer you a safe, confidential space to discuss your feelings and emotions around bereavement. The service may not be suitable for people who require a greater level of support, such as counselling or psychotherapy.
If we think you may benefit from additional support, we'll signpost other services to you and we may discontinue our sessions. We'll always tell you when we feel this may be necessary.
That's no problem. We can end the sessions at any point if you decide you'd prefer not to continue with them. There's no obligation to complete all six sessions.
Whether you need regular or one-off support, we have a variety of services on offer.

Your call will be recorded to monitor the quality of our service and support the training of our volunteers. All service calls will be recorded as part of our safeguarding process, and to monitor the quality of our service and support the training of our volunteers. We will only use your number and email address to contact you about the service and for your support sessions. We won't pass your number to anyone else unless confidentiality must be broken (in the exceptions to the policy stated below).
At the end of your support sessions, we will collect some demographic information from you. We collect your gender, age, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity and the first part of your postcode in order to help us understand who we're reaching and where. This information is not used for any other purpose.
We will ask you for feedback on our service to use for quality purposes and to help us demonstrate impact. The full recorded feedback will be deleted after 5 years, some comments and quotes may be retained for longer to use internally.
