      Kannada cinema is popularly known as Sandalwood. Tulu film industry is one of the major industries in Karnataka. The first Kannada film was made in 1934 with the name ‘Sati Sulochana’ directed by Y. V. Rao, and it was the first talkie film. It is said, the first movie had 30 songs composed by R. Nagendra Rao and H. R. Padmanabha Sastry. Since then, many films have been produced in Kannada cinema, a number of which have received international recognition.
