Jessica Simpson has chosen to make herself 'feel good' by changing her look due to the 'hurt' she is feeling amid her marriages woes, according to sources who say that the singer felt like husband Eric Johnson 'doesn’t truly appreciate the beauty' she is.

Taking to Instagram on Monday, the singer raised eyebrows with a sultry new post amid the ongoing reports that she has separated from her spouse of ten years.

In the snap, the Dukes of Hazzard star was clad in a black jacket over a beige silk top and skirt with a fishnet bodysuit and black heeled cowboy boots.

She wore dramatic false lashes and boasted a plump pout highlighted with pink lip gloss as she told fans: 'I can't wait for y'all to hear the soundtrack of my soul.'

Fans were immediately left stunned by the With You hitmaker's sexier image, and sources have revealed that the singer is deliberately making herself feel good about herself by switching up her style as she works on the issues in her relationship.  

'Jessica is hurting because her relationship with Eric is in a stage where it is a complete drama and emotion filled rollercoaster,' a source exclusively revealed to DailyMail.com. 'She doesn't know if it is going up or down from one minute to another.'

Insiders claim the singer felt like husband Eric Johnson 'doesn’t truly appreciate the beauty' she is and is now taking time for herself

The source continued: 'And one way to make her feel good is by changing her look with clothes, makeup etc. It takes her out of the seriousness of life and drowns out the business and difficulties of being a mom.'

Noting that many are starting to question if all is well with the Blonde Ambition actress, the source added: 'Some would say it is a midlife crisis, but she is looking at it as she's still got it and wants to flaunt it. 

'If it leads her back to Eric in a more loving relationship, great, if she separates from him, she'll be ready because she'll be in a good place within herself. 

'That is what she is working towards, to be OK with herself and then everything else will fall into place. She's always working on herself.'

In recent months, the actress has fueled growing speculation that her relationship is on the rocks by sharing pictures without her wedding ring, alongside cryptic messages.

Elsewhere, reports have claimed that friends close to the singer contacted divorce lawyers on her behalf.

Revealing how her estranged husband is reacting to the shift in the star's appearance, the source explained: 'Eric is not focusing on how she looks, he's focusing on getting her back and to be in love again. 

'They have fallen in and out of love over the last few years, and he is trying to figure out how to get his family back in order.'

The source noted: 'Some would say it is a midlife crisis, but she is looking at it as that she's still got it and wants to flaunt it' 

Another insider explained: 'Jess’s recent glow up has given her a new outlook on life though and she feels [Eric] doesn’t truly appreciate the beauty that she is' 

The source continued: 'It starts with communication, and he hasn't done that well of late. And to tell the truth, she hasn't either. 

'If they figure that out, then all will be well. The next few months should be very interesting, it will be a gamechanger.'

Elsewhere, another insider noted that the star's new look was a sign that she was no longer looking to her husband to feel good about herself, as she continues to move forward from her addiction struggles. 

'Jessica says her marriage has been a rollercoaster for years and she does take accountability for the parts where she knows she messed up,' the insider noted. 'Jess’s recent glow up has given her a new outlook on life though and she feels he doesn’t truly appreciate the beauty that she is.'

The insider hinted that it was all but over in her marriage to Eric as they continued: 'She isn’t really present in the marriage anymore and she says that neither of them seems to care.'

Citing a key reason for the delay in any possible divorce by the pair, the insider said that the couple's financial status would be a cause of contention, and that Jess knows 'how messy their divorce would be.'

According to the insider, Jess has made millions while married to Eric and he has 'played a large part in this.'  

'He was there for her every step of the way, working alongside her for many of her ventures,' the insider added.

The couple haven't been spotted together since they attended their daughter Birdie's graduation from kindergarten in June. They also share daughter Maxwell, 12, and son Ace, 11 

The singer, who recently celebrated being alcohol-free for seven years, wed the former NFL tight end, in 2014.

The pair share daughters Maxwell, 12, and five-year-old Birdie Mae, and son Ace, 11.

Jessica and Eric, who played for the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints, celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary this last summer.

Rumor has it the pair have been living separate lives for around a year.

'Eric has been doing his own thing for longer than anyone seems to know,' Life & Style reported.

'He’s been very vocal about how difficult it is to live with someone so obsessed with surgery and so detached from reality most of the time.' 

There have also been reports that the two are not even living together in their Hidden Hills, California mansion. 

Jessica was previously married to entertainer Nick Lachey, 51, while Eric had been married to Keri D'Angelo.

The singer recently teased her return to music in a November 11 Instagram post, saying she was back in her 'Nashville music room where [she] unearthed [her] singular magic.'

She vowed, 'This comeback is personal, it's an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve.'

Jessica's most recent musical release was the 2010 holiday record Happy Christmas. 

The album featured covers of festive classics such as Here Comes Santa Claus, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, Happy Xmas (War Is Over) and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.
