The Jonathan Majors-starring bodybuilding drama Magazine Dreams has been assigned a theatrical release date of March 21, 2025 after it was previously dropped following the actor's conviction in connection with assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
The film's distributor Briarcliff Entertainment on Wednesday confirmed to Deadline the release date of the motion picture, which was written and directed by Elijah Bynum.
Briarcliff Entertainment in October picked up distribution rights to the film, its chief executive Tom Ortenberg said, confirming in an email it was planning a 'robust' theatrical release in the first quarter of 2025.
Before Majors' conviction, Magazine Dreams had been a critical hit at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2023.
Searchlight Pictures had set a release for later in the year, with widespread expectations that it could land Majors, 35, his first Oscar nomination.
But that changed after a confrontation in March 2023 led to the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania actor's arrest after his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, 31, accused him of attacking her in the backseat of a chauffeured car.

Jabbari said Majors hit her head with his open hand, twisted her arm behind her back and squeezed her middle finger until it fractured.
Majors maintained he was innocent, but in December of 2023, Majors was found guilty of one misdemeanor assault charge and one harassment violation.
Within hours of that decision, Marvel Studios dropped Majors from the role of Kang the Conqueror, which was to have been a focal point in its films and TV series for years to come.
In January 2024, Searchlight - which, like Marvel, is owned by the Walt Disney Co. - returned its distribution rights to Magazine Dreams to the film's producers.
In April this year, the Emmy-nominated actor was ordered to complete a yearlong counseling program but avoided jail time.
In sentencing Majors, Judge Michael Gaffey noted both sides in the case agreed the charges didn't warrant jail time and that Majors had no prior criminal record.
Majors and Jabbari last month settled a civil lawsuit she filed against him, as both agreed to dismiss the litigation.
Things for the Lompoc, California-born entertainer appear to be on the upswing as the year ends, as last month he revealed he is engaged to actress Meagan Good, 43.

In writer-director Bynum's Magazine Dreams, Majors plays Killian Maddox, a lonely, aspiring bodybuilder prone to eruptions of rage, carrying wounds from a life filled with pain.
Majors' costars in the forthcoming film include Harrison Page, Harriet Sansom Harris, Taylour Paige, Haley Bennett and Michael O'Hearn.
'Dozens of incredibly talented people poured their time, energy and creativity into bringing this film to life, and I am immensely proud of their work,' Bynum said in a statement Wednesday, according to Deadline.
He added, 'I'm grateful to Tom Ortenberg and Briarcliff Entertainment for their unwavering support, passion, and for giving this film the opportunity to reach a wider audience.'
Briarcliff was also the distributor of one of 2024's most controversial films, the Donald Trump dramatization The Apprentice, which starred Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong and Maria Bakalova.
