Jane Moore revealed the surprising reason she avoided Coleen Rooney on I'm A Celeb as she claimed the jungle left her 'physically and mentally exhausted' after just one week.

The Loose Women panelist, 62, reconnected virtually with her fellow chat show hosts as she appeared on Monday's installment via video chat.

She became the first celebrity booted out of the jungle and spent her time drinking cocktails by the pool before her interview.

Speaking to Christine Lampard, Judi Love, Brenda Edwards, and Linda Robson, Jane revealed when she first landed on the beach, after jumping out of a helicopter, she had to decide who she wanted as her teammate.

But Jane admitted that while she wanted to pick Coleen as her team mate, she thought it was best to leave it so she wouldn't 'traumatise the poor lamb'.

She told the panellists: 'I was one of the first five to go in so I jumped out of a helicopter, landed on the beach and they said there were going to be people on the beach who you had to choose as your team mate.

'There was GK, Coleen Rooney and Melvin Odoom. And I thought it was probably a bit early to run up to Coleen Rooney as a journalist and say ''you're coming with me for the day''.

'I didn't want to traumatise her, poor lamb. So, I thought GK is the one because she is my fellow Loose Woman, even though we haven't done a show together yet.'

Jane also took a swipe at her other campmates as she admitted that their lack of hard work left her 'completely physically and mentally exhausted' after just the first week.

She confessed: 'The first eight or nine days, I was collecting the logs. And when you collect the logs, it's not just collecting logs.

'You have to go down 100 steps, right down to the bottom of the creek.

'Collect the logs, bring them all the way back up the 100 steps, keep the fire going.

'I was emptying the dunny, I was taking out the rubbish, and I was doing – you always have a camp work mate – but my camp work mate was Dean.

'Dean, poor love, was persistently on trials, so he was always out of the camp. So I was doing it all on my own.

'So in the first week, I'm quite physically strong, and I was doing it on my energy reserves.

'But by the end of week one I was completely exhausted, physically and mentally exhausted.

'So when there was a change of leaders, I said to Danny, when they went off to do new jobs, I said, 'Could you not give me the washing up or the cleaning?', as I called it, because that's actually the most physically demanding job in camp.

'Because, again, you have to go up and down those 100 steps, but it's three, if not four times a day with two massive pails full of all the dishes, the cutlery, the cast iron pot, the cast iron frying pan.

'And they didn't hear me say that, so they gave me the washing up, along with Tulisa, who, bless her, has a bad back. So the pair of us really struggled with it.'

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV from 12:30pm and is available to stream on ITVX.
