In a unique move, the third elf was perched over the  a toilet that was apparently filled to the brim with Froot Loops cereal, complete with a spoon.

'Merry Christmas everyone,' Chris said in the footage.

'I just want. to say, keep your eyes peeled because the elves have done it again. Look at 'em. Cheeky buggers. There're everywhere. Stay sharp.'

Some fans were left baffled by the unusual clip as they shared their confusion over how he had pulled it off, questioning whether he had filled up his toilet completely with cereal.

However, other fans were quick to point out that there was likely some movie-level trickery involved with the prank.

'There's cling wrap over the seat then a small amount of cereal on top,' the eagle-eyed fan replied.

'I'm sure no one is crazy enough to fill their toilet bowl with cereal!'

After one follower branded the stunt as 'wasteful' in an unimpressed comment, others were quick to show their support for the Hollywood actor and his fun-filled antics.

'There are not a lot of moments, these days, that can be observed as pure fun,' one fan said.

'Let the elves enjoy Christmas. I guarantee you that the donations this family makes to help others far out weights the Fruit Loops in the bowl.'

'Really? U even had to comment, do u even know who he may donate to? Get a grip let him & his family enjoy Xmas,' another chastised.

Chris shares three children - daughter India, 12, and twin boys Sasha and Tristan, 10 - with his wife Elsa Pataky.

They all enjoyed some low-key Christmas celebrations Down Under, with Elsa sharing an rare family snap from the day.

In the image, the family were all seen wearing matching Grinch pyjamas as they opened their Christmas presents by the tree.

Chris and Elsa have raised their children in Byron Bay, but the model recently revealed she had one very specific condition before she agreed to uproot her life and move Down Under almost ten years ago.

Speaking recently to the Courier Mail, Madrid-native Elsa said she told Chris she would only move to Australia if they lived on a sprawling farm where she could have horses.

'That was my deal with Chris,' she shared. 'I said I would move to Australia but I wanted to live on a property, a farm, and have horses and he knew that.'

Luckily for Elsa, her dream came true and they now live in a sprawling $30million eight-bedroom mansion that sits on a massive 4.2 hectares of land in Broken Head.

Elsa and Chris tied the knot just ten months after they first met and will celebrate 14 years of marriage on December 22, though she confessed they rarely remember their anniversary.

Even though it might seem like a relationship faux pas, Elsa insisted the date is easily forgotten because it's so close to Christmas and said they laugh it off every year.

Gushing over her husband, Elsa also admitted that she has always wanted a 'partner for life' as she told how she wants to grow old with Thor actor Chris.

Elsa and Chris got married in a spur-of-the-moment ceremony while in holiday in Australia in December 2010, just three months after they first made their relationship public.

They moved to Byron Bay five years later after buying their forever home in the coastal paradise for $7.6million.
