The Kushners' VERY different wives: How 'Proud Trump Republican' Ivanka couldn't be more different from her sister-in-law - staunch Democrat Karlie Kloss

They're both successful in their own careers, celebrated for their beauty, and have had modelling careers.

But the Kushner brother's wives - Ivanka Trump and Karlie Kloss - could not be more different.

While the two women married into the family heralding a property dynasty, known for its warm relations with the newly elected US President, the pair aren't often pictured together - and have found themselves on very different sides of the political fence.

At times, there have even been rumours of feuds and rifts between the sisters-in-law, despite Ivanka's hopes for 'decades of happy memories as a family' for the couples.

Property developer Jared, 44, wed the POTUS's daughter, 43, in 2009, while his younger brother Joshua, 39 - a venture capitalist - married supermodel Karlie, 32, in 2018.

And as Ivanka - who has said she's not making a return to the White House this time around - stunned in a custom recreation of an iconic 1954 couture gown worn by Audrey Hepburn at this week's inauguration ball, the contrasts between them couldn't have felt more stark.

She and Jared danced alongside Donald and Melania Trump - as well as Vice President JD Vance and his spouse, Usha Vance - along with her siblings Tiffany and Eric with their partners; making for a firmly GOP-aligned image.

Ivanka has in past endorsed the Democratic party - but following her father's foray into politics proclaimed to be a staunch 'proud Trump Republican' who along with her husband worked as a senior advisor in his first administration.

Meanwhile Victoria's Secret Angel Karlie has made it clear that she doesn't support her in-laws' views, and the same seems to be the case for Joshua.

In 2019, she admitted that it's been 'hard' to navigate the dissonance.

Speaking to British Vogue, she added: 'But I choose to focus on the values that I share with my husband, and those are the same liberal values that I was raised with and that have guided me throughout my life.'

Just two years prior, her husband has voiced similar sentiments on 'liberal values' which have 'guided his life'.

'I have supported political leaders that share similar values,' he told Forbes in an interview.

'But neither political party has a monopoly on the truth or on constructive ideas for our country. It's important to be open minded and learn from differing opinions.'

Things appeared to come to a boil after Karlie criticised Trump supporters following the attack on the U.S. Capitol on January 6, in 2021 and insinuated that she has tried to have political conversations with Jared and Ivanka.

'Accepting the results of a legitimate democratic election is patriotic,' she posted on X. 'Refusing to do so and inciting violence is anti-American.'

The post immediately drew a rebuke from one of her followers on social media who wrote: 'Tell your sister-in-law and brother-in-law,' to which Karlie responded: 'I've tried.' This was later deleted.

And in March this year, despite both couples attending the opulent wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and his bride-to-be Radhika Merchant, there were no pictures of the whole Kushner clan together.

Ivanka and Karlie both shared social media snaps from the star-studded party in Jamnagar, Gujarat, in India - but none with each other.

The celebrations reportedly cost $152 million and were kicked off with a performance by Rihanna, who is said to have commanded a $6 million fee and whose partner A$AP Rocky was seen mingling with guests.

In a post captioned 'Cheers Anant and Radhika', Karlie showed off her lean physique in a stunning iridescent gown as she posed in front of fairground rides and alongside Zuckerberg's wife Priscilla Chan.

Other photos showed the model sporting a chic, backless blue dress with matching scarf draped elegantly around her neck. Her husband Joshua was also pictured wearing a traditional Indian men's outfit.

'No photos with your in-laws,' one user spotted, commenting on Karlie's post.

Another penned: 'Why don't you want use to know you were with your brother-in-law and sister-in-law?'

In one photo taken at the event, Ivanka is seen with her husband, Jared, and brother-in-law, but Karlie is notably absent from the photo.

It is also hard to ignore that Karlie has been a passionate campaigner for pro-choice policies - while Ivanka, in 2020, a few years before the Roe v Wade overturning, explicitly stated she is 'unapologetically' pro-life.

A few months before the election which saw Trump re-elected into the White House, Karlie penned an emotive op-ed for the Miami Herald, where she hit out at Florida's 'new draconian deadline banning abortion after six weeks'.

In it, she recounted her experience in visiting an abortion clinic, slamming the government's axing of abortion access federally in June 2022.

'I've been engaged with this issue since I was a teenager. Growing up, I trained as a clinic escort at the Planned Parenthood near my hometown in St. Louis, MO,' she wrote.

'Years later, I became involved with Abortion Bridge Collaborative Fund, which funds independent abortion clinics and organizations that support them, and dozens of other clinics like CHOICES in Carbondale, IL.

'When the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, eliminating the long-held federal right to abortion, I launched an organization called Gateway Coalition to direct funding to various Midwest groups to provide accessible abortion care. I've visited many abortion clinics, met with countless patients and the incredible doctors serving them, but I was still deeply moved and surprised by what I saw that day.'

Karlie was tirelessly urging her social media followers to vote before the election last November, penning captions focusing specifically on the abortion ban.

On Instagram, she penned: 'Every single vote matters in this election & in the fight for reproductive rights. Protecting and restoring reproductive freedom means showing up for all of the races and props on the ballot.

'The policies that shape our everyday lives—our schools, healthcare, and rights—are impacted by local races where school boards, state legislatures, and judges quietly hold enormous power.

'Doing the research on down-ballot candidates and propositions can feel overwhelming, but it's worth it when you get to the voting booth. Check out endorsements from organizations that align with your priorities. ACLU, Planned Parenthood, Reproductive Freedom for All, The States Project, and Vote 411 all have resources highlighting where candidates stand. You can also find voter guides put together by local organizations you trust, and check your ballot return deadlines through When We All Vote.'

In contrast - in 2020 - Ivanka confirmed that she is 'pro-life, and unapologetically' in an interview.

During the interview with Real Clear Politics, the First Daughter was asked about her stance on abortion.

'I respect all sides of a very personal and sensitive discussion,' Ivanka replied, going in to say, 'but I am also a mother of three children, and parenthood affected me in a profound way in terms of how I think about these things.'

She then added: 'I am pro-life, and unapologetically so.'

In previous years, Ivanka had avoided taking a firm stance on the abortion question, despite her father, President Trump, being pro-life, a view which is said to have helped him secure his Evangelical voter base.

Ivanka's pro-life statement comes just three years after she reportedly had a secret meeting with then-Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards in 2017, during which the First Daughter supposedly 'expressed an interest in wanting 'to know more about the facts'' of the organization, Politico reported at the time.

In her memoir, Richards wrote that she met with Ivanka again in 2018. On that occasion, Jared Kushner was also in attendance.

During that meeting, Richards wrote that Jared made her an offer that felt like a 'bribe.'

Following Ivanka's pro-life declaration, Real Clear Politics said that a White House aide clarified that Ivanka's statement was a personal conviction.

That same year, tensions between the two couples were made clear after Karlie made an appearance on Project Runway.

A contestant made a seemingly snide remark about her husband Josh's family that had people audibly gasping in the studio.

The awkward moment came when Tyler Neasloney was being critiqued for his design, after he and the show's other contestants were asked to create a look for Karlie to wear to a CFDA event in Paris using only donated clothing from a local Goodwill store.

When Karlie asked him to explain the ruffled top and pencil skirt that he designed, he said he was 'going for a very traditional like Montauk, Martha's Vineyard, Cape Cod, Americana vibe.'

While Tyler was proud that he made the look using only four pairs of pants, the judges were less impressed.

'It's definitely wearable in some place that is neither Paris nor Montauk or Martha's Vineyard,' said designer and judge Brandon Maxwell. 'I cannot see Karlie wearing it anywhere, honestly.'

'Not even to dinner with the Kushners?' Tyler hit back with a smile.

Karlie was rendered speechless and her jaw dropped open before she tilted her head and gave him a pointed look.

Tyler's fellow contestants were stunned, and some audibly gasped when they heard the controversial quip. He quickly realised the line had landed flat and tried to make light of it, adding: 'That's your husband.'

Karlie ignored his comments about her husband's family and, instead, focused on the aspiring designer's failed look.

At the end of the episode, the host announced that she and the other judges had voted to send Tyler home. She gave him a kiss on the cheek, which she has done with all of the eliminated contestants so far, and said: 'Thank you for being here.'

'Karlie, I want you to know that I'm not a jerk,' he told her. 'I'm professional, so what I said earlier had no hidden agenda, no meaning, nothing like that.'

The model gave Tyler a smile and thanked him for his apology.

The Kushners, in general, are likely a touchy subject for Karlie, who was reportedly not allowed to attend the family's gatherings for years while she was dating Josh.

Author Vicky Ward touched upon the Kushner family's relationship with Karlie in her expose 'Kushner, Inc.: Greed. Ambition. Corruption. The Extraordinary Story of Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump,' which was published in March 2019.

Josh's parents, Charles and Seryl Kushner, refused to meet Karlie for six years and 'spoke horribly' about her behind her back,' according to the book. The expose claims they banned Karlie from family gatherings because they hated her so much.

The billionaire family allegedly despised the fact that Karlie was not Jewish and thought that a Victoria's Secret model was beneath them.

Family friends reportedly mocked Karlie, calling her the 'the lingerie model,' and they feared that Josh had 'doomed' the entire bloodline.

Like Ivanka, Karlie converted to Judaism to marry into the Kushner family, but Jared reportedly dismissed her as a 'shiksa,' a disparaging and offensive term for a non-Jewish woman.

When Josh was said to have protested that Jared had done exactly the same thing with Ivanka, his family disagreed.

'Ivanka, they explained, was different. She was a Trump. She was also, like Jared, real estate royalty. And she'd attended an Ivy League school, the University of Pennsylvania,' Vicky wrote in the book.

'Kloss grew up in Webster Groves, Missouri, a suburb of St Louis, and hadn't even been to college when she and Josh began dating.'

Despite the alleged discord, Josh's parents are believed to have attended the couple's wedding in October 2019 along with their children, including Jared and his wife Ivanka.

However despite the tensions, both have reportedly squashed 'rift' rumours - although admitting they are not 'best friends'.

Speaking to Page Six a few months a go, a source claimed: 'Ivanka and Karlie have a good relationship, they're in the same family and they spend time at family events together, they also have an overlapping social circle in Miami.

'They may not be best friends, but it's wide off the mark to say they don't get along.

'They have weathered so much and they are still spending time together at family events and social events, they continue to have a good relationship.

'Their relationship has had a pretty good test over the past eight years!'
