Alan Carr has admitted he struggles to remember his worth as he reenters the dating scene after splitting from his husband back in 2022.
The TV star, 48, revealed he uses humour as a shield to protect himself as he can't believe anyone would be interested in him.
Speaking with his pal Paloma Faith on her new podcast Mad, Sad & Bad Alan opened up about dating post divorce as he confessed he has to remind himself that he is 'worth it'.
He explained: 'I'm sort of tentatively putting my toe back in the dating thing but my problem is I've s*****d myself off so much I've started to believe my own act.
'There are people now who are interested in me and I'm like "oh well what with my teeth and glasses and fat back."
'But then I am like " Alan you've got to reign it in because you're telling them your material" and you go "Alan you are worth it, this person is interested in you".'

The funnyman previously wed Paul Drayton in 2018 , with pal Adele as their officiant, before announcing their split in January 2022 after being together for 13 years (pictured in 2019)
Supporting her friend, Paloma added: 'It's sad for me to hear you put yourself down like that because there are so few people like you in this world who are this magnetic, this funny, this intelligent, and all the stuff you talk about and you putting yourself down that's a shield isn't it?'
Alan replied: 'Yeah of course it is, it's a shield and stuff but I mean I'm learning to get over that now and say "Alan take a compliment."
'Someone said to me when someone gives you a compliment say "thank you."'

Paul then posted on Instagram that he was in rehab for alcoholism at the time, after a 'challenging couple of years' which saw him plead guilty to a drink-driving charge.
Speaking about the divorce, Alan said: 'The thing is the marriage just fell apart and people always look for the click bait thing and all that but we had loads of years together.
'It just ended, but we had 13 years we gave it a good go.'
Alan also enjoyed a whirlwind romance with toyboy boyfriend Callum Heslop, 28, however they split last year.

Earlier this month he admitted he is dating again and is ready to find love with pal Amanda Holden's help.
Alan shared the one condition he has while dating, and admitted he would never use apps.
He told the Mirror: 'I'm dating, I'm dipping my toe in, but that's all I'm doing. I won't do the apps, it has to be a friend of a friend. I'm just going on a few dates but they're unsuccessful. I mean, I'm never in the country, but I'm ready now for someone... anyone.'
Amanda winked and added: 'I've got someone but we're keeping it private. He deserves to find someone.'
Alan explained: 'I'm at that age now, I pick shows that I love doing. Life's too short, I want fun, fun, fun as I go into the autumn of my years.'
The star, who dated the hairdresser for a whirlwind two months, joked he was now on the lookout for a 'chunky rugby player to throw him around' or a 'chubby chaser' who suffered from 'low self-esteem'.

MailOnline spoke to Alan at the press night of Opening Night in the Gielgud Theatre, London where he said: 'I'm single again, b****y single'.
Speaking about his type Alan quipped: 'I look for a rugby boy. I like them big, and chunky - chunky everywhere. If you catch what I'm saying'.
Asked if he'd like them to use their strength in the throws of passion Alan laughed: 'They have a lot of me to throw around, they need a digger or a skip or a winch'.
However despite his hopes of finding love the TV personality admitted he was not currently using any dating sites: 'How can I go on Grindr? I'm taking it easy at the minute. Do you really want this face popping up on a [dating] app?'.
