Fox News contributor Dr. Kelly Powers dead aged 45 after devastating health battle
Fox News contributor Dr. Kelly Powers has tragically died after a years-long battle with deadly brain cancer.
Powers, 45, who appeared on programs such as Red Eye and in segments on Fox Business, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, one of the deadliest forms of brain cancer, in 2020.
Following the diagnosis, underwent three surgeries, chemotherapy and immunotherapy and was able to go into remission one year later, according to a GoFundMe.
In 2021, after fighting the disease and a brave fertility battle, she and her husband Steve welcomed their son Bennett, now three, into the world via surrogate.
However, the cancer tragically returned this year - and the regular on Fox News was raising money to obtain an innovative treatment that is only available in Germany.
The beloved doctor and mom-of-one, who was known for informing Fox News viewers on the health risks facing Americans, passed away from brain cancer on Sunday.
Powers was born in Yonkers, New York and studied undergrad at Baruch College, according to her obituary.
She went on to pursue her medical school training at New York College of Podiatric Medicine, followed by a Master of Science degree at the University of San Francisco.
She then attended Georgetown and Boston Universities for her residency programs. Then Powers and her husband Steve married and began their family in Colts Neck, New Jersey.

Powers was an accomplished doctor and surgeon who became a regular Fox News contributor.
'She was a brave and beautiful soul who could make friends anywhere she went. Kelly had a love for people and she was dedicated to helping others,' her obituary said.
'She held many hobbies including gardening, surfing, ballet, biking, running, horseback riding, travel, and several more activities.'
Before her cancer diagnosis, the beloved doctor had several other health scares including heart problems.
Powers told Preferred Health Magazine she experienced heart failure on live television during a segment about heart health in 2018.
'It's crazy - I went into heart failure while doing a report on Fox Business - live - on heart health and talking about the subtle signs that women often miss. You can't make this up,' she said.

'I was actually diagnosed with heart disease by accident when my gallbladder was failing and I had to have it removed. That led to my heart being examined and... I couldn't believe it – here I was in my late 30s, experiencing a health condition that a much older person would be diagnosed with.'
In July 2020, she experienced a dangerous seizure that sent her to the hospital where doctors diagnosed her brain tumor.
After receiving the stunning news, doctors gave her another surprise as they were taking her into surgery.
'So, the brain surgeon is wheeling me in to have surgery - he suddenly stops and says, "Hey just want to let you know before I put you under, you’re pregnant - the surrogate took and you have a baby boy on the way!" I honestly could only think - what the h**l is happening,' Powers said.
She told the outlet she called herself 'the luckiest unlucky girl' and would joke with her son that cancer treatment left them with the same haircut when he was a baby.

Tributes poured in for Powers, following her tragic death. TV host Britt McHenry wrote: 'Kelly Powers was a wonderful, strong and kind woman. We would text each other about our brain cancer struggles and she was someone I admired deeply.
'In tears and devastated about this. She loved her family. I am sending them all the love and prayers right now.'
One Fox News viewer wrote: 'Such sad news. Dr. Kelly Powers was a respected voice on Fox News and a dedicated physician. Sending condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues.'
And another wrote: 'May god bless her family and her soul. Nobody should ever be lost so young.'
