Britney Spears wasn't quite ready to acknowledge her age on Tuesday, shortly after celebrating her 43rd birthday.

The singer is in Mexico, where she celebrated her special day on December 2 after charting a private jet from Los Angeles

And she played her encroaching middle age for laughs while sharing a playful Instagram video with followers later that day.

Addressing fans directly, and apparently knocking a year off her real age, she joked: 'It's my birthday. I'm not turning 42 this year, I'm turning five years old, and I have to go to kindergarten tomorrow.'

Spears shared the video just hours after she was declared legally single, seven months after finalising her divorce from estranged husband Sam Asghari.

According to legal documents, obtained by TMZ, the pop star officially became a single woman in the eyes of the law on Monday.

Since the former couple had a prenup prior to walking down the aisle in June 2022, the outlet reported that Asghari, 30, walked away from their 14-month marriage with 'virtually nothing'.

Amid their divorce proceedings, she did pay his rent for a few months after he moved out.

He has since moved on with Brooke Irvine while Spears had a short-lived fling with her former housekeeper Paul Richard Soliz.

In August 2023, Asghari filed for divorce from Britney and cited 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for the split.

At the time, a source told DailyMail.com: 'The case was resolved, to Britney's credit and at her request, to disentangle her from the probate court system. She wanted to avoid the circus and spectacle of a trial.'

Shortly after Sam filed, Britney broke her silence over their divorce and admitted that she had been 'a little shocked'.

'I couldn't take the pain anymore honestly!!!' the singer revealed in the caption of an Instagram dancing clip.

'In some sort of telepathic way, I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you!!!'

'I've been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it's far from reality and I think we all know that!!!'

Despite the separation, Spears added that she was 'actually doing pretty d**n good!!! Anyways have a good day and don't forget to smile!!!'

Sam had also addressed the divorce and shared, 'After six years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together.'

'We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always,' he expressed, while also adding, 'S**t happens.'

Two months after he filed, Spears' memoir, The Woman In Me, was released in October. She mentioned Asghari in the book and called him a 'gift from God.'

Since the duo had a prenup prior to walking down the aisle in June 2022, Asghari walked away from their 14-month marriage with 'virtually nothing' (seen in 2018 in Beverly Hills)

In response, the actor said, 'That made me smile to be honest, I am freaking proud of her and I hope she takes over the world.'

Last year, Asghari told People that he would never 'talk badly' about Spears following their divorce.

'It was a blessing to be able to share life with someone for a long time. And people grow apart and people move on. I never understood when people part ways [and] they talk badly about each other.'

He added, 'That's something I'm never going to do because I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life.'
