Fans ecstatic to see beloved television series on Hulu: 'I can finally cancel Netflix'
Several social media users are saying they're ready to leave Netflix to follow Gilmore Girls after landing on rival platform Hulu.
Hulu released all seven seasons of the fan-favorite series on its streaming platform on December 16.
'Gilmore girls is on Hulu I can finally cancel Netflix,' an X user wrote after the show launched on the streaming platform.
The show, which is centered around the mother-daughter relationship between Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel), ran from 2000 to 2007.
Hulu also created a nine-episode Gilmore Girls holiday collection selected from all the show's seasons.
Although every episode of the original series is available, streamers can only watch the revival miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life on Netflix.
The cult classic is also known for featuring Jared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia and Melissa McCarthy in their breakout roles.
The show's Hulu release occurred less than a month after Graham reunited with co-stars Scott Patterson and Sean Gunn in a Gilmore Girls-themed Walmart ad.

Social media users were excited to learn they could watch Gilmore Girls for the first time on Hulu
Several X users tweeted that Gilmore Girls' arrival to Hulu was a 'Christmas miracle'.
One fan on X claimed they hadn't seen Gilmore Girls in seven years after refusing to pay for Netflix and 'prayed' for something like this to happen.
Another person wrote: 'The only thing I’ve missed since getting rid of netflix was gilmore girls and I kid you not I was about to break down and buy the boxset (with money I don’t have!!!) because they also stopped showing reruns on tv… does hulu realize they just gave me the best christmas gift.'
Instagram users also joined in on the excitement and one person jokingly asked if Hulu was 'sharing custody' over Gilmore Girls with Netflix.
'All I'm going to say is that if loses gilmore girls i’m cancelling my subscription and moving permanently to hulu,' an Instagrammer wrote on the show announcement.
'Thank god my dad just got rid of our Netflix subscription since i can't watch it while at college (their household policy sucks) but we kept Hulu!,' another person said.
'We were in the middle of watching it for the first time and now we get to finish it!,' the user added.
Other Instagram users thanked the person who came up with the 'idea' to bring Gilmore Girls to Hulu 10 years after it became available to stream on Netflix.
As of 2023, nearly 500 million Netflix users have watched all seven seasons of Gilmore Girls and the miniseries on the streaming platform
Social media users insisted they would cancel their Netflix accounts after Hulu completed a 'Christmas miracle'
Gilmore Girls grew in popularity over the years after the show ended its seven-season run.
One major debate between Gilmore Girls fans was who Rory should've ended up with: Dean (Padalecki), Jess (Ventimiglia), or Logan (Matt Czuchry).
Millions of fans past and present on social media have claimed to be on 'Team Dean,' 'Team Jess' or 'Team Logan.'
Padalecki portrayed Rory's on-and-off boyfriend from Season 1 to Season 5 and was credited as a main cast member for the second and third seasons.
Ventimiglia portrayed Rory's 'bad boy' Season 3 boyfriend and made guest appearances in the fourth and sixth seasons.
Czuchry portrayed Rory's boyfriend, Logan Huntzberger, from the fifth to final Gilmore Girls seasons.
Bledel's character also received hate for her behavior during the final few seasons of Gilmore Girls years after the show ended.
One relationship that continues to be praised by social media users today is the friendship-turned-romantic relationship between Lorelai and Luke.
As of 2023, nearly 500 million Netflix users have watched all seven seasons of Gilmore Girls and the miniseries on the streaming platform, according to The Washington Post.
Fans have praised the relationship between Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Luke (Scott Patterson) since the original and revival Gilmore Girls series ended
Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino was in charge of all the revival's four episodes after having left the original series after Season 6.
Graham, Bledel, Patterson and Kelly Bishop starred and appeared in all four episodes.
Padalecki, Ventimiglia and Czuchry appeared in multiple episodes, but the Supernatural star only made a less-than-five minute cameo in the miniseries finale.
Other Gilmore Girls alumni who reprised their roles in the miniseries include Liza Weil and Keiko Agena, who portrayed Paris Geller and Lane Kim.
The miniseries received mostly positive reviews from critics, and a reviewer from the New York Times insisted the 'most enduring qualities were front and center in these four episodes.'
Despite the revival's 87 percent Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes, some audience members were disappointed with the miniseries.
'I give this series a D- The characters are not on point,' a fan wrote on Rotten Tomatoes in 2023.
'Rory apparently has suffered brain damage because she can't remember she has a boyfriend or his name. It is a shadow of the original series.'
Despite the show ending with a mysteriously shocking plot twist (Rory's pregnancy), there are no current plans for another Gilmore Girls revival.
