Cher has revealed she lost her virginity at 14 to get revenge on her older boyfriend in a shock admission from her newly-released memoir, Cher: The Memoir, Part One.
The music icon, now 78, detailed how she became involved with a 'cute' Italian high school senior in the early 1960s - but decided to 'loan her virginity' to him after he embarrassed her in front of his friends.
She writes: 'An Italian family on our street had a cute son who was a senior in high school. He spent his weekends working on his hot rod as I handed him tools. Then he’d come to my room, we’d kiss, he’d want me to hold his other tool, and I’d say no. I liked his black roadster better than him.
'Not that sex was far from my mind then, as the main conversations among girls at school were about how they spent their weekends fooling around with boys but never went to “fourth base.”
'It all struck me as too casual, like they were checking things off a list. As someone who played sports, I’d had enough of their euphemisms and told them, “You’re so childish. You’re not playing baseball, you idiots. You’re having sex!” I mean who did they think they were, Joe DiMaggio?'

'The neighbor was sweet enough when we were alone, but as soon as his friends came around, he’d treat me like an embarrassing kid.
'One day, when his buddies suggested a trip to Bob’s Big Boy, he said, “Okay, let me get Cher.” They laughed and said, “You’re gonna take that kid?” and he ditched me. I was so hurt when he did that, I had revenge sex with him.
I had never wanted to, otherwise I would have done it one of the five hundred other times he asked. But I was so angry at being dismissed, I decided to, if not lose, loan out my virginity to him.'
Cher said she dismissed the teenager after the 'massively overrated experience came to an end, writing: 'I asked him, “Is that it? Are we finished?” Then I told him to go home and never come back. I wanted him to feel just as dismissed as he’d made me feel. Even though he kept trying to make it up to me, I never spoke to him again.
'Back in school, I reported to my friends that the “thing” they were constantly talking about was no big deal and that they should carry on kissing.'
Cher has unfortunately faced numerous heartbreaks over her decades-long career - starting with her first marriage to Sonny Bono, who she met when she was only 16 and he was 27.
The two soon fell in love, married in 1964, and formed the musical duo, Sonny & Cher, one year after that, which went on to become one of the biggest acts of all time and propelled both of them into major stardom.
But as their careers flourished, behind-the-scenes, their relationship started to crumble - with Cher later claiming that Sonny didn't give her 'any freedom' during the height of their success and that he 'didn't allow her to do anything except work.'
The star's hotly anticipated memoir came out November 19

She also accused him of being unfaithful and admitted that things got so bad she once contemplated taking her own life.
The two ultimately split in 1974 - but Cher faced another blow when it was revealed during the divorce proceedings that he had control of 95 per cent of the money they had made together, while his lawyer owned the other five per cent.
After their split, Cher was left with absolutely nothing - except for a broken heart - but she didn't give up, and went on to become one of the most successful artists of all time.
Some of her other failed relationship include her short-lived romance to business mogul David Geffen, who came out as gay after they went their separate ways, her marriage to musician Gregg Allman, which ended due to his drug addiction, and her relationship with Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, who allegedly cheated on her with a fan.
Gregg was the man that Cher ultimately left David for - a musician who was a member of the Allman Brothers Band.
The two met when she attended one of Gregg's concerts at the Troubadour in LA with her then-beau David, and they soon became embroiled in a whirlwind romance.
'She smelled like I would imagine a mermaid would smell,' he later told Rolling Stone about the night they met.
But he described their first meeting as a 'disaster' because he 'passed out in the bathroom, high on heroin.'
Even so, the pair started dating and decided to get married just two months into their romance - tying the knot with a Las Vegas wedding on June 30, 1975, at Caesars Palace.
But things quickly went amiss due to Gregg's addiction to drugs, with him recalling to Rolling Stone: 'There was one problem - she didn’t realize that I was a hop-head.
'So I woke up one morning and told her, "Look, I’ve got to tell you something. I’m addicted to narcotics." "Well, how do you fix that?" she asked.
'I didn’t have much of a response beyond "Well…" "I know what we’ll do," she said. "We’ll go back to LA, and I’ll get my doctor friend to write you a big prescription for Quaaludes, and you can just sleep through it. When you wake up, it will all be over."
'I tried it - what the hell – but of course it didn’t work. Still, Cher was actually quite elated that I told her the truth about my addiction.'
Nine days into their marriage, they decided to get a divorce, but their relationship did not end there. They got back together a month later, and together, they welcomed a son, named Elijah Blue, in 1976.
They also released a joint album, called Two the Hard Way, in 1977. But after four years together, in 1979, they officially went their separate ways.
'We had our good times, we had our bad times,' he said. 'We were just different in a whole bunch of ways... I was really glad that she never asked me what I thought of her singing, because I’m sorry, but she’s not a very good singer.

'Looking back, I think I was trying to find a friend, even if I had to marry one. The thing is, I really love women. I always have.'
Cher spoke positively of her time with Gregg while chatting with People afterwards, explaining: 'I just didn't have the juice anymore. He's the kindest, most gentle, loving husband and father. But then, he forgets and everything goes to s***.
'I still care a great deal about him because I never loved anybody the way I loved him. But I don’t love him anymore.'
