Barbra Streisand's praise for Gracie Abrams backfired this week after the Hollywood icon revealed the singer's A-list father.
Streisand, 82, took to Instagram to send warm wishes to Abrams, 25, alongside a clip of her performing, writing: 'I just saw a wonderful new singer named GRACIE ABRAMS (@gracieabrams) on Saturday night live this weekend.
'and it turns out she’s the daughter of my friend JJ Abrams!'
Hollywood filmmaker JJ Abrams, 58, who is worth an estimated $300million wrote and produced films including Armageddon (1998), Star Trek (2009), Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019).

The star doesn't have the best luck on social media, she previously asked Melissa McCarthy if she was taking Ozempic in a public Instagram comment in April 2024.
The EGOT-winning entertainer was quickly at the receiving end of dozens of responses calling out the nature of her inquiry at the time.
Gracie, who is close pals with Taylor Swift, opened for the pop star during several Eras Tour dates.
Grace's The Secret of Us tour initially kicked off on September 5 in Portland, Oregon, before wrapping in the states in Philadelphia on October 15.

Her concerts are set to continue in February 2025, when she will begin the European leg in Madrid, Spain.
Last month, Taylor revealed she and Gracie lost their cool after learning their track, Us, was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2025 Grammys.
While on stage in Toronto, the pop star recalled her emotional reaction to finding out that their track earned a nod from The Recording Academy.
'The Eras Tour has been going on about a year and a half now, and so, a lot of life can happen in the phase of that tour and a lot of art can happen in the course of that tour,' she recalled to the crowd.
'I think you'll remember the genius brilliant young lady you saw earlier tonight, Gracie Abrams. So, story time, Gracie was opening up for me a year ago on the Eras Tour.'
She continued: 'We had so many fun memories during that tour, one of which we were celebrating her getting nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys, we had, like, eleventy-hundred Cosmos, went back to my house and just started writing a song.'
The Fortnight hitmaker went on to gush that the track, Us, off Gracie's album The Secret of Us got 'nominated for a Grammy.'
'You can't even imagine, like, the phone call between the two of us when the nominations came out and we saw that song was nominated,' she explained.
'It was just screeching. It wasn't even words, it was just feral screeching for the entire call.'
Abrams has been dating actor Paul Mescal, 28, since June 2024.
